Pronam
Good luck removing the crystal is hard work then you completely have to make all new faces and trust me it gets really tricky I tried before and I ended up giving up I remember that, had the same. I was to lazy to do it :P. It's one fixed mesh alex. Even though it's easy to remove the crystal. It's an tiresome work to replace the game that'll exist because of it. Kieran. How about one that replaces it while it's still present? It would be easier to modify the order crystal so it would disappear behind the great welkeyd one. Another option is to put the welkeyd texture on the order one. Maybe with some tweeks on the order crystal to look different.
kieranfoy
I'm not sure what you mean by the first bit, but retexturing the order crystal is fine by me, in fact I think I already suggested it! Probably for the best.
ub3rman123
Proportional edit, and make it shrink behind the crystal.
ziitch
For texturing, you'll need to do two things - mark seams and unwrap the UV. UV Unwrapping in Blender is a bit easy - First off you'll want to split the workspace into two parts, accomplished by right-clicking the area between the render area and the Panels region. Choose "Split Region", and split the 3D render region. With the new region, change it to the UV Editor window type, which is done by clicking the button in the left corner (it may have a grid on it.) This will allow you to place the vertices in the proper place on the texture. Next, analyze your mesh and determine where the unwrapper might have trouble properly unwrapping (such as acute or right corners and places where the mesh changes greatly), or where parts of the texture could be repeated. This is where seams come into play - Select edges, and choose those possible trouble spots or places that can repeat or have more detail. After choosing these edges, hit ctrl-E and choose "Mark Seam". Finally, unwrap the mesh. Choose faces that have no texture and hit the u key. The Unwrap menu will appear, and choose the unwrap method that best describes your selection. For detailed areas, Unwrap (smart projection) is the best option. Don't worry if your first try doesn't look too good - It takes a few tries and some seam changes to get the unwrapping to work correctly. Hope that helps! L33Nexus
Hmm, I might make an aniamted version, A welkynd staff with the greater welkynd stone and some small regular welkynd stones spinning round the main one, that would look awesome :) Would go perfectly with this: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=93560
kieranfoy
That would be interesting, L33. A bit over the top for my tastes, but I'm a bit of an old-fashioned fuddy duddy. So, how are the Warhammer things going? You sober enough? ;)
L33Nexus
Ah, Zbrush is a lovely tool, I'm still learning how to use Zbrush properly but once I'm ready I bet you'll love to see what I can do :D
ub3rman123
Well, my version is just the crystal jammed atop a roughly erased staff, so I think I'll wait until L33 finishes.
