zany chimp
When I load Oblivion, all the text is missing, and there are weird color streaks everywhere! Sort of like what would happen if an evil 2-year-old got bored with photoshop. I tried to take a screenshot, but it didn't work. I have had this problem once before, and that was before I knew what a mod was, so it probably is NOT mod-related. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Anyone else have this happen? ub3rman123
I've seen it happen before, usually when the load is interrupted by some unrelated error message. Does it persist if you close and open it again?
zany chimp
Yes, it's persistent. Strange... I'll try loading Oblivion by the ordinary means (not OBMM launcher) and see if it does anything. Edit: that didn't work. I've already tried cleaning the disk. Maybe restart my computer?
yeldarb
I read your post about OBSE and Windows not playing nice. The best solution for this is to install Oblivion outside of Program Files and UAC. I use C:Games\Oblivion. I believe the Steam version of the Game Works in C:Games\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\common\oblivion, but I have the discs and am not sure. zany chimp
That problem's fixed, but the game's still unstable. And now Windows isn't playing nice with Windows! Whenever I try to delete some of the old user accounts, the system freezes! What's "steam?"
yeldarb
The Steam version is a download from a compoany called "Steam" it doesn't require a disc to play, and the company recently had a sale on Oblivion GOTY deluxe with all of the DLC's included. To delete the accounts try running as an administrator. Worst case scenario, disconnect from the internet, turn UAC off and do it.Just remember to turn UAC back on before you get online again.

bben46
Try deleting the Oblivion.ini file - the one in the folder with the saved games. It will automatically create a new one based on the hardware it finds when you start the game.
