If installed as normal, you could just double click the files/archives and they'll open up for you. It'll ask a location as where to extract them so you can use the files that were put into them.

It also has shell integration (which I prefer) so you can right click and have options for extracting faster.

Get both, actually. I suggest that you use either program for its original intention (7-Zip for .7z, WinRAR for .rar), since sometimes winRAR fails at CRC checking with some 7-Zip files, but that mostly happens with files that don't just use the Roman alphabet.
