I've ready a few articles on the possibly upcoming TES: V.

 

I managed to go over and find one of them. Edits will bring more articles in for you guys to view.

 

Anyway, after what I've viewed, it seems Bethesda bought a website: "Elderscrollsonline.com" Which possibly means TES: V might be an online game.

 

I read a few comments on some articles about the flaws in this, such as the possible crashes, because all of the players using such free movements. I can easily disprove these. Movement is not likely to be the same, if it is, then crashes are very likely. I don't think bethesda are that stupid.

MMO's also mean:

 

1. Subscription

2. Free to play aka Pay to win with points purchases for perks = Fail

3. Guild wars style instance based small group no raid bosses or quests.

 

The best option would be subscription similar to WOW and Everquest.

 

With these types of games you could roam the world find other players, form large groups to lay siege to a castle etc...

 

Free to play ruin the game by allowing those who want t spend hundreds of dollars to advance further than those who don't pay.

 

Guild wars style puts you in small groups, where the only time you see other players is in towns etc... With the way TES is set up this would ruin to open world feel.

 

I played Everquest for about 6-7 years, there is nothing like getting a group of 30-50 players going to a castle and making your way through it to the boss mob/mobs. Also Exploring the world and happening on a group of fellow adventurers to join and bring exploration to an even higher level.

 

Some people prefer offline, but even with hundreds of NPC's mods for companions and the like. The game can feel "dead" NPC's can only respond to you in so many ways, there is nothing like open dialogue with other real life players.

 

Depending on how it was setup I would enjoy an MMO TES.

Most of the articles your probably found a nasty little rumors people were spreading about it being an MMO. If they have a brain, they won't do it...they'll wind up losing a ton of money in the long run with WoW being as popular as it is. I really can't see how they could turn it into an MMO with the way the lore is in the game.

 

I still say the are making TES V as a single player game...and it will either be set in Skyrim or Akavir.

On the contrary the Lore is ideal for an MMO, one thing it provides is a way to grow the MMO world by having expansions into past areas, such as Oblivion and Morrowwind...

 

This is one of the biggest problems for MMO's today, they have to "invent" Lore as they go, Creating new lands which really have no bearing on the original story. With having several TES releases already this makes it so they can just "open" up these past areas...

 

I have never seen a series that was more geared to becoming an MMO...

Unfortunately, I almost have completely legit info that it will be an MMO. It's become more than just a rumor.

 

And sure they don't have the lore. WoW had no lore to start with, just a bunch of guys creating it as they go along.

 

If more people begin to disagree, I'll get links to other sources to view, just to prove this massive possibility.

 

PS, I don't think Akavir is a region, and a multiplayer game could easily take place in skyrim.

If they are staying with the TES name, then they most certainly do have Lore. Saying they don't is like saying a LOTR MMO would not have Lore. The Lore for a TES:V would definitely included all aspects of previous versions of the game. That would be their selling point and precisely what would get people to play their game over say WoW for instance. If they do not include anything from prior games they might as well just change the name and start from scratch. Doing that would be a marketing nightmare. Using prior Lore from the Offline series eliminates having to get current and former TES players to convert to the idea. Then they would just have to focus on people who have never played a TES game.

 

I highly doubt this game if it will be an MMO will be a from scratch Lore. That alone would be the first step to failure... If they chose to start from scratch that would just throw away years and years of work and that just isn't good for business and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

 

A game like WoW had no choice which is why the Lore is random and in some cases makes no sense, Everquest was a little better Lore wise but not much, Everquest II had most of the Lore form Everquest I within it. If they eliminated it then it would have taken much more work to gain a foothold... The best MMO's are those that are created around a time tested Lore, which is why if someone ever put together a decent LOTR MMO it would knock the socks off of anything out there. Why do you think most of the Korean developed (Asian style Lore) MMO's are so popular? They are based off culture and hundred of years of history.

 

If you are taking a game from RPG to MMORPG, you stick with what works...

All I meant was that every good game had to come up with lore as they went along. Let's say there's a game released today. And they have lore planned all the way up to 3 expansions already? No, no, no.

 

TES: V, if it is an MMO, is going to have patches, updates, events and whatnot. They're going to be based on old lore until they run out of ideas.
