Annoying things in Oblivion

Hi'yah all!

I was just about to do the sewer quest where you have to follow Baurus and get the 4th of the commentaries, The Path Of Dawn that is, when I renembered how slow the guy is. So I made him run. Now I want to know what is bothering you, so I can make a mod that makes Oblivion less... annoying :) I am not almighty, so I can't fix everything, but I'll try. So, let go off yourself once, and piss over your fav game!

Happy modding ;]

finding a very hard lock chest and you open it and all it has is like 20 gold and probally a dish

my only soultion to that was a skeletion key because its unbreakable or the console

but still its pain after going to through hard work off lockpicks and all you get is like a pewter or 30 gold or so on

sometimes you would be luckly to get armour

Pretty much all the things where you have to follow someone. It'd be nice to have a point between run and walk, because in Cyrodiil the NPC's are either on their morning constitutionals or they're fleeing for their lives from daedra. A third speed would fit well for the follow missions.

Adiou: Also, when you only have one lockpick left. I wish lockpicks could have more uses, but I doubt that's possible.

What's the worst is when you find a lockpick inside the chest after all that work.

lol thats true you lose like 20 and you gain 5 lockpicks back

oh another thing that annoyed me was the lack off physics

but im sure there are mods that change that

but still it was werid the way when you killed a person there body would be falling for 3 seconds like if there doing the matrix

I have the same problem with Modryn Oreyn in the "Azani Blackheart" part of the Fighters guild questline. An option to make a forced companion have to wait at any point in quest would also be useful, if thier being allowed to live or not participate in the battles does not break the questline. Complaint number two.I am not sure if the Unnoficial patch for KOTN fixes the missing Restoration Trainers, but someone should have been left alive to point you to Oleta in Kvatch as the master trainer. You would think that Oleta would inform you that she can train you if you are already skilled enough when you become the "Savior of Kvatch" in the GOTY version.Thank you Bethesda for missing the obvious solution to a known glitch.

Aaah, yes, I completely agree. This is going to have to be done by hand though... Uugh... All those dungeons... But expect it to be included ;]

Third speed and more lockpick uses are above my ability - but there is a lockpick overhaul that might do that: Linkies for all! - There is a non-obse version too, uploaded by the same author.

A list of everyone you have to follow would be nice [a]

I was already thinking of Modryn, expect him to be done to. Imma go to the UESP wiki now, I'll probably just have to add a new restoriation trainer somewhere - probably in one of the magic shops.

And as for the annoyances: keep 'em comin, please!

Edit - there isn't enough coffee in the world to do all those chests by hand (execpt for people with a lot of patience - a loooooooooot of patience) so I'm going to balance it out by making lockpicks more common, which should also kinda please ub3r ;D

It'd be nice to find a mod that associated the level of difficulty with the contents of the chest. I'm playing a Shinobi character currently and it's pretty annoying getting to the end of a dungeon after slaying from the shadows mundane and inhuman foes only to receive a paint brush and 8 gold from a very hard chest. Also, after sneaking into one guys house and successfully assassinating him via stabbing him to death (Deadly Reflex), I found out how valuable a bowl and flawed jewel can be to someone so wealthy (again, a very hard jewelry box).

Hmm I might try to put some more valuable leveled items in chests. That would solve it to ;]

As for the reducing cost of magicka, and making armor more easy to find, I'm not sure. Reducing magica cost for spells would likely result in a cheat mod, and there's tons of those, just look around a little. Same goes for armor - it's not supposed to be easy to get a full set, in my opinion.

I am done with: another restoration trainer that can point you to Oletta (or Oleta, whatever), making Baurus & Modreyn run, and increasing the likeability of lockpicks being found.

Please people, don't be shy, everyone is complaining about this game all the time, so now you can do it in this topic and make me happy! - lol ;p

Funny, the last thing I have trouble with is lockpicking - I just use a little patience by keep hitting the pin again until it slowly rises and then simply set in place.

It's the direct melee combat that I can barely stand - Most hostile NPCs you run into at an early level mostly wield two-handed weapons (which isn't great for those with shields), and several times I've wondered if fatigue checks downright fail no matter what - you can metaphorically wear them out by running around while they try swinging at you, but it seems that when they do make a hit they still do normal damage despite all that swinging.

...But then you have conjurers and bandit archers, but they pretty much fail at melee and dealing with an acrobatic PC.

Stumbling in battle is understandable, but it's cheap stumbles done to me that irks me. Or stumbling again after regaining composure - I'm not one of those cliche'd evil minions that attack you in droves, but can't quickly retaliate after one simple swing of your weapon knocks them down, giving you a wide window of opportunity to finish them off.

And then there's health, but I'm not dependent on most restorative items even if it's the best option in a low-heath situation - I'm more towards going for a high level and then let magic do the healing instead of potions or other restorative items (unless it's for magic, I do use that when needed). I blame JRPGs more than myself for that tactical mindset.
