If you don't have Shivering Isles installed, go down the page until you find OBLIVION patches, NOT Shivering Isles patches.

Download the first OBLIVION patch you see that's for your respective country. (US, UK, etc.)

I have a problem,

I've tried installing the following patches:

SHIVERING ISLES PATCH v1.2.0416

ShiveringIsles_v1.2.0416English.exe (1.1 MB) 04/30/2007

OBLIVION PATCH v1.2.0416

Oblivion_v1.2.0416English.exe(5.1 MB) 04/30/2007

This patch is for North American (English) versions.

And they do not work, I get a message saying that the old file was not found, so the update was not done.

Then I seeming successfully install this patch:

OBLIVION UK/EUROPEAN/AUSTRALIAN PATCH v1.2.0416

Oblivion_v1.2.0416UK.exe (4.8 MB) 05/07/2007

This patch is for UK/Europe/Australia (English versions only).

And Oblivion doesn't load. I've tried restarting my computer and uninstalling all mods but the only way I can play Oblivion is to uninstall and reinstall.

I want to update my Oblivion because I want to play the following mods that I downloaded from tesnexus.com but they won't work:

Quests:

- Blade Song

- Bloodlines

- Claudia's Secret

- Frostcrag Reborn

- Golden Crest

- Hoarfrost Castle

- Kvatch Rebuilt

- Tears of the Fiend

- The Heart of the Dead

- UnderDark

- Curse of Hircine

- Lycanthrope 2

- Mage Sky House

(- The Lost Spires is the only mod quest that has worked)

Extras:

- Dragon Eyes

- Drake Anthro-Dragon Race

- Skyrim Khajiit Race

- Tabaxi Race

- Fall Hair Wig Shop

- Wolven Anthros Race

Please help me because I've completed every Official Oblivion quest and I REALLY want to expand my game, make it last, and experience these mods.

You propably corrupted Oblivion trying to install all these patches without thinking. Reinstall it again and follow these steps.

1. Determine what version you're using (US or UK English, with or without Shivering Isles etc.)

2. Download the patch from https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/11364 (yes, all patches are here on Nexus too). Use only one patch, do not attempt to combine them.

3. Run exe and follow the patcher's instructions - if Oblivion is installed right, it should find Oblivion.exe and patch it automaticaly.

4. Run Oblivion, and check on Main Menu Screen its version, it will be shown at leftdown corner.

It seems the current up-to-date official provider of Oblivion patches can be found here now:

https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/53228

Especially useful in case linked mirrors don't have all versions or language support.

(Weird way of hiding them though, Bethesda.)

The current version of game you have installed should be visible on the main menu title screen in the bottom, left or right, corner, sometimes centered as well, depending on UI (mod) used.

In case it's indeed not 1.2.0416, updating will be required for most current mods to work. Especially if the version is still among the 1.1.x, the plugins created in a 1.2 version of the CS will be silently ignored without you even being noticed.

Steam, GoG et al should have your game updated already. And in case it still isn't they should provide their own means of updating it as well.

Retail disc versions will need manual updating through use of the patches linked above or in previous posts.

The installation order is always the same:

1. Oblivion itself (the version that comes from disc)

2. Shivering Isles (if wished/needed/required)

3. the 1.2.0416 patch fitting your language version (and if SI or not)

Never install multiple patches. They shouldn't add up. And if the expected version of game is not found, the installer will throw the error mentioned above ("old version not found").

Confusingly the same error "old version not found" will also be thrown, if the game version is already as high or higher as the patch. So previous checking if you even need a patch is always advised.

There are cases where lower version patches were previously installed, or where people installed first the 1.2 patch for Oblivion only, then later installed Shivering Isles, and now can't install any of the 1.2.0416 patches anymore.

For those there's also been reversion tools or version fixers floating around in the past the location of which is currently no longer known.

If all else fails and a proper 1.2.0416 patch fitting your language version still can't be installed, it might become necessary to reinstall the game and start over. This was especially often the case when previous patches were already installed in the past.
