xmeme
Hello. I've got a problem on Skyrim, and I hope you're able to help me. You see, I've invested months of playtime into my Skyrim character, on a modded version. Then I bought a new computer, so I transferred the save files. Downloaded again the mods I used last time. The problem is, my Skyrim won't load the save file again. It seems to be corrupt, and the error says something like wrong version, the save file is 0 and your skyrim version is 9. I'm not sure all the mods are 100% exact as the last time, but I've got no way to know which/how was the game modded previously. Is there any way to know? Or to check the save file to see if it isn't corrupt? Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks.I could upload the save file(s), if someone has the skill to analyze. dennis20014
If you still have the old computer and are able too, I'd recommend manually transferring your entire Skyrim folder over to the new computer, and overwriting any files it asks. This way the game has the same exact structure setup. I don't know how many mods you use, but if it is a lot then this may help. And by a lot I mean 10+. I will vouch and say it has for me before but it may not for everyone. Even so, on a new computer and setup I would say that you are probably better off starting over, as sad as it is to say. There are just too many variables that could make it go wrong. As for that error...I have no idea. It sounds like your save file was on an outdated version of Skyrim? Not going to assume, but if that's then obviously the Skyrim copy wasn't legit. But I don't assume that, I just have never had an error like that. Kriiks
There is a way to see your exact required esp list for every save. Easiest is install Wrye Bash and check your save there. It will list you all esp's. This way you can restore exactly same loadlist (except mod version what might be changed since you used it in your old save). tony971
Yes, check your save file with Wrye Bash to see what esp files it expects, but also clean your save with Savegame script scalpel. The author is pretty bad at putting things into layman's terms but just follow the "guide for 5 year olds" and you'll be fine.
xmeme
Why thank you very much for your suggestions! I'll try them out as soon as I'm home tomorrow :D And no, I have no access to the old computer :(
