SonOfMun Posted June 30, 2010 Share Posted June 30, 2010 I'm playing OOO 1.33 and am having a problem with some of the bosses vanishing after I kill them (ie. Illmouth at Hidden Camp). I get the "they must have been important" message and after I close the message box their body is gone and I'd like to gather their armor/weapons.I've had this happen with several of the bosses in OOO and don't want to go any further in case I can't ever get back to loot their corpses.What am I missing or doing wrong? Vindekarr Posted July 1, 2010 Share Posted July 1, 2010 I had that too... I wasted 20 hellfire bolts on the scum and he didnt even have the good grace to give his part of the quest. I dont know what the error is, but it could be game code, or incompatibility. My main question is did you install this on an existing character or run a new game after install? because just throwing it in and then running an existing character can cause... complications. Don't I know about complications! I had some problems from loading the game and then some mods in the wrong order and got the infamous "OMG exclamation mark".No, I did a complete install of everything in the proper order and then started with a new character. An aside...I've found a quasi work around. After a preliminary and quite necessary quicksave, in case you miss the pick, I've found out that if I'm quick enough I can pick on the body before it disappears and get their stuff. You have to pick "take all" instead of picking just the juicy stuff else everything you don't pick will disappear with the corpse. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

David Brasher Posted July 1, 2010 Share Posted July 1, 2010 Some mods have scripting that is structured such that the body disappears before you can loot it or otherwise prevents you from looting it. It is not really a bug, just a bad design or a design that is destined to be unpopular with many people including myself. One reason modders do it this way is that it would take more time and effort and skill to make the body lootable but still have it disappear or revive or whatever. But if the result comes out bad enough that people are complaining about it, it probably ought to have that extra scripting added, or else just remove all the scripting and make it like vanilla Oblivion where you have all the time you want for looting.
