Help needed making meshes transparent

hello,

Because I wanted to make some parts of the golden saint armor invisible, I found this tutorial. Only when having followed all of the steps, and equipped the armor in game, I run into an issue with the shining colors. I'd better explain this with a picture, you can find it here.

you can see which parts I wanted to be invisible because they show up like pink glass and they make the armor parts behind the removed parts invisible.

Does someone know how to fix this? Is this problem occurring because of me doing things wrong with the normal and color maps in photoshop, or can I fix this using NifSkope?

I hope you can answer my question.

It's because you seem to have a spell effect on you; spell effects don't ignore a lot of invisible meshes, except collision and other such technical meshes.

Also, I noticed that the invisible parts are "revealing" some things it shouldn't - Open Nifskope and open up the .nif file, select the parts that are invisible, right-click on the NiTriShape/NiStrips that is highlighted, and go to Node->Attach Property. A menu will pop up; select NiAlphaProperty.

Now, go to the new NiAlphaProperty, in the details there should be a Flags listing. Click on the flag beside the number, and dialog will pop up. You'll find an option called "Enable Testing" - check it. Since this is supposed to be invisible, set the Alpha Test Function to Less, and anything behind the invisible parts that has an alpha will render over that.

Have you tried altering the alpha slider in NifSkope under materials?

Changing the alpha slider and checking 'enable testing' does it. Only changing the alpha function to 'less' makes the whole armor part invisible, and that wasn't what I wanted. So thank you both, because it looks quite better now.
