geekminxen
Apologies if this has been answered before, but I can't find it if it has...is there a way to convert .nif files to .stl files, or at least convert nifs to something that can be opened in SolidWorks or Inventor? Thanks~
Ph0rce
Been a while since I saw anyone else on here that uses SolidWorks. Blender handles STL conversions fairly well, though in my experience, getting vertex data to play nice with parasolid for anything other than a reference can be an absolute nightmare. madmongo
I personally have two versions of Blender installed on my computer. I have 2.49b with all of the nif tools since all of that works well and plays nice together. As far as I am aware, the later versions of Blender and later nif tools are still a bit buggy together. I also have Blender 2.79 which I mainly use to convert things from other formats into obj, which I can then read in to 2.49b as an obj and convert to nif from there. I haven't personally tried importing an stl, but there's a menu option for it in 2.79 so I assume that it works. I have successfully imported fbx and a few other formats that 2.49b doesn't support. It's kinda hokey to do a two-step conversion like this (use 2.79 to convert it to obj, then read obj int 2.49b and convert to nif from there), but it works. You should be able to go the other way as well. Read the nif into 2.49b, save as obj, load that into 2.79, and export as stl, or any other format that 2.79 supports.
