Dimonized/Narrowed Shoulder/Type V Armor

Domas

Hello! First of all, I'm not new to the texture replacement/modding my game (TES III and IV), however, I just recently picked up FO3 for the PC via Steam after countless hours playing the vanilla console version. Figured I could use a change of pace and explore all the great mods out there.

The problem I am having is with getting "Narrowed shoulder Type3 based Body meshes" and "Type V Female Body and Armor Replacer" (only using Armor Replacer, as I have "DIMONIZED TYPE3 female body WIP" installed successfully) to install correctly. Normally I would figure it be a no-brainer, but as I downloaded FO3 via Steam, I can't seem to find where I have access to change texture/mesh files. I go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty\Data\ then either meshes or textures, however, there is nothing there except those loaded via esm/esp mod files. If I simply follow, say, Type V armor replacer readme and "Copy the "meshes" and "textures" folders to your <INSTALL DIRECTORY>/Fallout3/Data/ folder" I overwrite nothing, and it seems - in game - no changes have been made to the armor.

Also, for Narrowed shoulder meshes, the readme states "Copy esp meshes and textures folder to your Data folder". However, once extracted, all there is is a "meshes" folder, no esp or textures folder, and I get the same problem as I do with Type V armor replacement - no overwritten files in my Data folder...?

Yes, I have the ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! activated.

Would it be possible to rename all of those files (including Type V armor replacer patch/DLC archives) to .fomod and use FOMM to install them?

I apologize for my confusion, it just seems unnecessarily complicated to replace these textures via Steam lol.

Thanks in advance for any help!

sounds like you've run afoul of that evil Dictator UAC and his plans to control the world

seriously consider uninstalling STEAM and re-installing it outside of a directory under this evil Dictator's complete domination.

then re-install oblivion and live happily ever after

alternately you can play tricks of trying to convince your operating system that you are an Administrator who has permission from the dictator to actually be an Administrator . . . but this often fails.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention I have UAC turned off :pinch:

I'll try what you suggested though. But those replacers should work without overwriting files then? Seeings as I can't see any other files under /fallout/data/meshes or /data/textures/.

The replacers will work without overwriting files - the FIRST time, since the original mesh and texture files are in BSA archives (that's why the archiveinvalidation thing is important - tells the game engine to look for files Outside the BSAs). So when you say you have the Dimonized type3 installed correctly I got a bit confused till I went and looked at my download of the narrowed shoulder mod - you have to look in Data\Meshes\Characters\_male of that mod that you extracted, and rename the one you want to use to femaleupperbody.nif. Then when you do the copy, you should get prompted to overwrite the current femaleupperbody.nif of the original type3 mod.

So UAC is preventing me from viewing some files within my Program Files folder? When I went the easy route and made Dimonized type3 into a .fomod, and then hit activate, it "installed" the mod for me, and gave me the option to overwrite. I guess I'll have to reinstall later - too lazy to do it atm, just want to raid some super mutant infested hideouts atm :)
