roflcopter117
I recently started playing Fallout 3 and I'm trying to patch the game but none of them work, 1.1 just closed up in the middle of the update, 1.4 stops working, same with 1.5, 1.6 when it's almost finished command prompt will open and seconds later it closes along with the update and when I check the game's version it's still the retail version, 1.7 stops working at an overall of 33% finished, I have tryed reinstalling the game but still the same problem, can anybody help me? pkleiss
Try this: * Uninstall everything and remove the fallout3 folder and all its sub-folders. Remove the \Fallout3 folder from My Documents\My Games folder as well.* Do a fresh install* Start the game and, from the main menu go to Settings --> Display. Check the version of the game in the lower left corner of the screen. If its 1.7 something, you don't need to patch it as its already the latest version. If it isn't, go to the next step.* Go here and install the latest GFWL client.* When that's done just install the 1.7 patch, forget about the others. Fonger
every source requires a different patch so where did you buy the game?
Phalanx21
Make sure its the right version, you cant install a UK patch on a US Fallout. And if you bought the GOTY Version of Fallout 3, it already comes patched.

phoneyLogic
What file is corrupt? The patch? In that case you may need to download it againhttp://fallout.bethsoft.com/eng/downloads/updates.html Or the game files are corrupt on the dvd - could also be your optical drive which causes problems.
