Has anyone tried to connect Washington DC?

I only recently realized that DC was actually a collection of seperate maps connected togther by subway tunnels (I don't play FO3 that much) and thought it would be pretty sweet if someone out there made a mod that connected all the maps together and removed some of the rubble that blocked the passages. I just downloaded the GECK a few days ago and barely know how to use it but one day I was hoping to create some mods with it such as conecting the DC maps together and maybe fixing up the highway that runs through the city and the wastelands (which wouldn't be possible without having a whole connected map). So I'm just wondering if it's even possible to do something like that without running into major bugs or problems.

I think it might break a lot of quests and scripts because currently those scripts and quests reference to the separated cells IDs and by connecting these cells you will essentially be deleting all of those ID's. Therefore breaking all the scripts and quests. So if you were to do this mod you would need to change all the references to those cells to look for your new cell. On top of that if you connected all the cells...any event activated quests and scripts that only activate when a player enters a cell will be broken and those idk if you can fix...

Maybe instead of clearing the blockage you can put up gates. The gates can act as entry points to the different DC world cells. To not break the game you could put the gates up after the main quest is done. Maybe put in a note about the brotherhood trying to clean up the city to explain why the gates are there.

I agree with Seph and Eksile. Stick with it, one of the most interesting aspects of modding in general is having an idea and seeing how much of it you can do, sometimes you can't do very much, but in learning the limits you may come up with another great idea.

Maybe rebuilding the subway system is a better idea; like when you clear out the ghouls and raiders people come in and start settling and rebuilding, and clearing the rubble between each station.

I have an idea. Instead of making DC completely open, make it a maze in which you have to "unlock" curtain passages by doing curtain things. An example of this is your way to gnr, you would have to go through the subway and kill all the mutants. And once the behomoth smashes through that one baricade, you will have gained another path.
