Demon_Fire_9842
So I've just reinstalled oblivion and I'm using a lot of mods, one of which is Tears of the Fiend. I'm having an issue with it, though, in that I'm level 1 and Edward Pellew, is attacking me as per the quest intro and It's completely mismatched. He has 11 000 health to my 90 or so, and there's nothing at all I can do to get him to surrender without kiting him around near guards, which causes him to attack them when I let him live. I tried unchecking the .esp, but he still shows up anyway! Does anyone know how I can get the quest to stop so I can save this mod for a later date? Thanks in advance :)
DavidBudreck
NPC's from mods do not show up after the mod is removed; it just doesn't work that way. You must not have unchecked the correct mod, or else he's not in the mod that you think he is in. There is a Wonderful tool called Refscope that you can use to determine which mod something belongs to. chaospearl
Hrm, the Pellew issue. You can probably get around that by going to an area where you won't run into any guards before Pellew shows up. He will appear the first time you sleep, so make sure your first sleep is somewhere the guards won't instantly show up (or alternately, use a mod like No Psychic Guards or Reneer's Guard Overhaul so that the guards won't magically know when Pellew attacks you). You only have to hit him a few times before he surrenders.
Demon_Fire_9842
Well I appreacite the suggestions, but I DID uncheck the right mod and he has 11 000 health to my 90 healthDue to the balancing of mods I'm using he is utterly unkillable, and I'd rather save the mod in its entirety till I'm higher level. It's possible he's in a nother mod as well, so thanks for the link :) Edit: Yeah, just tried disabling TOTF, and using refskope on edward, it listed him as being from TOTF. He was persistent, if that could affect it.
kozakkk
Well as was said you don't need to kill him or even hurt him to any extent, you just need to hit him about 6 times it does not matter how much hp he has. Use a bow or spells, i did it with a lv 1 without being hit just sleep in an open area to give you space to run. He is also in the Malevolent mod, but that sequence is from TOTF for sure, so its strange that it still triggers after disabling the esp. But in any case you could always just remove the TOTF.esp from your data folder and then put it back in when you are ready to play the mod. Demon_Fire_9842
I do have Malevolent as well, so that's probably what was doing it. As for beating him, I hit him somewhere around 20-25 times(lost exact count) and he still wouldn't surrender. The only way to get him to do it was to get other people attacking him, so no go there. I ended up just deleting him and the related quests and scripts from TOTF, and saved with the mod enabled with those things deleted, then disabled it. I'm just hoping it will work right when I re-enable it, if not I'll try messing around with malevolent as well. Thanks a bunch for the help :)
chaospearl
Another idea is to cheat by hitting the console and using God Mode when he shows up. Just type TGM (toggle god mode) and you won't take damage, lose fatigue, your spells cost no magicka, etc. You're unkillable until you toggle it off again. I do understand that you'd prefer to just save the quest til your character is more powerful. I hate when I post asking how to do something and 87 people tell me it's a better idea to just do this instead... thanks, but if I wanted to know how to kill Pellew I'd have asked that, what I wanted was how to turn off the quest! I do get that, I really do. I'm just sayin'... god mode is cool. There is also the possibility that Pellew may be a leveled NPC, meaning that with your combo of mods, even if you're 50 level when you put the quest back he may well show up being 500 level, know what I mean?
