Hoamaii
Hey guys, I can't change Vanilla container's sound directly in the CK no matter what I've tried: assigning new sounds in the CK dialog box and checking "allow sounds when container animations exist" seems not to be working, I keep hearing the same old Vanilla open and close sounds in game. The only way I succeeded so far was by creating a custom nif container but that seems a little extreme for a hidden chest linked to a dummy activator. I was wondering if the sound was somehow assigned as an effect directly in the nif file or if my CK is just stalling on me about this? Any idea? Thanks! Elianora
Yeah, they're "edged in stone", in the nif files. I don't know how to edit those. I always just stuff the hidden containers very far from the dummy container, into the void.
Hoamaii
Thanks Elianora, that's what I found out too. Trouble is I've been positioning the damn hidden containers very deep already and the sound still comes out as if it was in the same room - I guess distance doesn't mean anything in the CK void... I've been digging into the nif files and NiControllerManager (I'm fairly at ease with NiTriShapes but don't know much about the rest of the blocks) - in the NiControllerSequence \ NiTextKeyExtraData, there are strings directly attached to the sound fx by name - I wonder if that can be changed or simply deleted without altering the rest of the sequence?.. I guess one way to find out is to try... ;)
lizardnexus
I just ran into the same problem. If you have some nifs without attached sounds you can just replace the meshes of those void containers. I'm using a Modder's Resource http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16525/? and changed the meshes to the empty jar. A bit tedious with the dozens of chests I have in the void, but it solved the problem, and from here on out I can just copy those containers.
