Naktis Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Does anyone have any idea how much of a difference should I be expecting? I never read the book but I'm sure it won't be a disappointment because most of the time (if not always) books are better when movies and The Shining is a great movie. I'm sure you'll like it. I'm currently reading Gone with the Wind and so far I really like it.
N3C14R Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 (edited) Started reading Dragonlace Chronicles - Dragons of Autumn Twilight. Good and immerse so far. Edited June 25, 2011 by N3C14R
cavveman Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I am currently reading Commentarii de Bello Gallico(Commentaries on the Gallic War) written by no other than Julius Caesar. Of course not on latin, the swedish translation is good enough for me. He describes his time in Gaul in third person and how the war against the gauls are going. The reason I am reading that is that I have to, History is so intresting especially when you are educating younger people :P
kevkiev Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Well, from the "aarrrggh... would be currently reading but the 2 nearby bookstores sold their last copy yesterday" dept: The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. Read a few pages that were posted on the net today and got totally hooked. edit: ordered from Amazon, should be here next week! Really interesting stuff. Flies in the face of the whole bell curve - type analysis of things and instead focuses on the quite significant impact of improbabilities. The author seems to nicely spice up otherwise pretty heady stuff with little bits of dry humour. (Just going from the little sample I've read.)
