sleaaels
The only cheats i did are (I don't believe its unethical): 1. Get the better quest items (I didn't think it was fair to penalize me for doing a quest early in the game).2. Placed a character in the game (bug with the trolls and dead villagers in the cave) to finish a quest.3. Cheat with lockpicks and repair hammers (I just didn't have the patience to collect hammers/lockpicks and play that mini game.).4. Cheated approx. 100k gold (ok there no excuse for this one)5. Sigil stones (same reason as "1.") and i closed the gates not realizing i would say bye bye to them for good. I don't like to cheat too much because it does take a huge chunk of enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment away from you (I agree with Stampede). saranak
i put my cheat effects into rings, so i can only ues two at a time, otherwise, i would be waaay too paowerful. sleaaels said: 5. Lanosh
the only cheat i used is giving my character 1000k gold for i could not bother to spend all the time running from gate to a merchant, selling those 5000g weapons for 1200g, then run back and so on... now he has a fully furnitured house in skingrad and the wizards tower is fully equipped, so he can concentrate on becoming the most powerfull mage of cyrodill. fortunately it did improve my gaming experience instead - as i feared first before applying the cheat - ruining it. the whole need-money-can-only-bear-very-limited-weight-merchants-buy-at-very-low-prices-thinggy did almost ruin the game for me for it was not very RPish but quite technical. Rhydderch Hael
This is beginning to bear upon my point. Those who decide to alter the weight of their equipment because it impacts on their ability to carry other inventory. Then adding gobs of gold so you can furnish out a house. Odd thing is, I've reached points in the game where the weight of my armor suite had no impact at all in how much stuff I could carry. I've bought and furnished every house and purchased every horse in the game at Level 25 and still had enough money left over to pay the fines for 100 murders if need be. Those abilities were achieved with nary a console command or cheat. It came from playing the actual game. Doing stuff, but more so, by figuring out the best ways to do that stuff through the game world.

At high levels you often find enchanted rings and clothes, those don't weigh that much. So you can sell more at the shop because it doesn't weigh as much as weapons. My mage never bothered to take ebony warhammers and daedric armor when he was a higher level. He only took rings, clothes, cash and ingredients. This way you don't only earn more, you can keep on hunting a longer period. And it's not cheating ;)
Rhydderch Hael
Sigil Stone + clothing item = 1000+ gold for 1 or 2 pounds of weight. Free carrot + Free radish = 30-50 gold Restore Health potion at 0.1-0.5 in weight. That translates to anywhere from 100 to 500 gold a pound. Economics have never been a problem once you start plowing through the game.
Switch
For people who resort to cheating for gold because they can't be bothered to do looting runs, the Bag of Holding mod is excellent. I've started to use it myself, and it makes dungeon runs vastly more entertaining for me as I don't have to keep worrying about gathering up pieces of armour and weaponry and dumping them in a pile at the entrance anymore. I personally don't view this mod as cheating, as it's something I would do anyway... the mod just saves me a lot of time and boredom. Apart from that, I play legit. I learnt in Morrowind that adding stuff via the console definitely spoils things. I'll download weapon/armour and quest mods, but I'll modify them myself to balance them if they're just giving stuff away for free (or have ridiculous stats). And obviously I won't touch "Jame1023's OMG PWNXOR Sword" type mods.

It is 1200 per item which can mount up. Daedric daggers don't weigh that much. Certainly I have never felt the need to add money - I have too much of the stuff. Of course it comes later in the game when you can enchant with permanent feather or make potions from one ingredient etc. I have said before Rockmilk Cave NW of Leyawiin is an excellent place. It's full of bandits fighting marauders all using the best armour available at your level (and the ringleaders use enchanted items). You can whizz back and forth between Leyawiin and the cave once they are all dead and make a load of money. And a little while later you can do it all over again. It can help you level up mercantile, armorer and whatever attack and defense skills you need to raise, too. And that isn't cheating in anyone's book.
