Mixing OBSE, Boxed, And D2D

Man I can't tell you how mad I am at Direct2Drive, but that's not important. Here's my situation:

I have the boxed version of Oblivion, but I got Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine and all the plugins from Direct2Drive. D2D said they were fully compatable; I didn't find out about the issues untill I had bought them. I was trying to install OBSE but naturally, it says it isn't compatable with the D2D version... Except, it said that there was a workaround, if you have the Oblivion DVD. Since I got Oblivion boxed, but not Shivering Isles, I was hoping this would work for me. The instructions on the OBSE loader said to download the autopatcher here and follow the instructions. I did that, but Oblivion nolonger worked, so I'm guessing it didn't work after all...

Is it really possible to use OBSE if you have Boxed Oblivion and D2D Shivering Isles, or am I doomed to shake my fist at D2D for all eternity?

Also if I can find someone else's Shivering Isles disk, does anybody know if my D2D key will work? Or will it only work for the D2D version?

The SI disk needs a key? I got the GotY edition, and the disk never asked for a key when I installed it. Neither did the Oblivion CD. I love Bethesda for their consumer-friendly stuff.

If you can borrow someone else's SI disk, you can probably install it and it should work. I don't think it's illegal, as you already own a legal copy (Just in the wrong format).

As a remarkable fact, I seem to have gotten it working. It seems I fixed it properly the first time, but Oblivion didn't work so I assumed it was OBSE's problem; actually it was an issue with one of the Unofficial Patches.

Basically, if you have the Oblivion CD, but D2D Shivering Isles, you should use the special autopatcher that OBSE provides and follow the instructions. It makes an oblivion executable that will work with Shivering Isles out of the original Oblivion executable on your DVD.

We'll see if I have any more problems as time goes on. ^.^;;
