Highly detailed Viking armor set + weapon.

EDIT:

The recently added Simple Hauberk (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59491/?) and Early-Middle Ages Helmets Pack (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55116/?) by VAultMaN30 works really well as a set of Viking armor. Now the primary goal is to get someone to make the Ulfberth. If you did start making a set of armor based on the below request, it will still be greatly appreciated and most likely downloaded and endorsed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After doing some searching, I noticed a serious lack of Viking-themed mods as Skyrim is a place based on Viking-age Scandinavia.

What I'd like to see is, a HD, (realistic, 2k res textures, I really like the textures Cabal120 uses for his armor retextures, for example) realistic and historically accurate set of Viking scale, or chainmail armor (preferably light armor, stat-wise), helmet, and shield. Standalone, all craftable at the forge, without them being in the leveled lists or anywhere else in the Skyrim world.

Here are some pictures of what I'm looking for in the armor.

Helmets:

(I do not want any super-fancy helmets like the one in the bottom left corner of the last pic)

I don't ask for those to be exactly like in the pictures, but I do want it as realistic and historically accurate as possible.

For the shield, basically just a wooden, round shield with paint. Something like this.

Now for the weapon.

This is the Ulfberht.

It was apparently a very rare and expensive sword made out of extraordinarily strong, flexible and pure steel for its time. Crucible steel. It is pretty unique looking. It supposedly has this slight Damascus steel effect, like in this picture here:

Although I'm not entirely sure about that.

It'd be pretty neat to have one of those in Skyrim.

That's all. I don't expect everyone to waste hours, days or weeks of their free time doing something because of one person's request, but I thought I'd give it a try.

My apologies if any of this has been suggested already, I am new to these forums and registered for the purpose of this request.

All effort is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There was a similar request to this a while back. There was plenty of interest, but unfortunately the one person who decided to take it on disappeared for some reason.

In the meantime I would suggest searching the nexus. There are already some very good viking armour/weapon mods, just not enough of them in my opinion.

You might like this mod for the shields. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40695/?

And these are some good swords. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51544/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51417/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36416/?

For armor, I recall there being viking armor in Immersive Armors, by the same guy who did the Shields of Jorrvaskr.

Thanks for replying. Those are all great mods you just listed, but all of those are already in my list of installed mods, and the reason of this thread is because I don't find them enough. The Viking chainmail armor from Hothtrooper44 isn't very realistic, and I don't like it because realism and historical accuracy is what I'm looking for. Sorry if anyone's annoyed by my pickiness, but that's the way I am.

Updated the OP a bit, with new pictures. Also, I am new to these forums, and could you tell me how to embed images? I can imagine it's annoying to click every individual link.

Even though the Thegn, The Stamford and Brug Hild from InsanitySorrow and Maibatsu are really awesome swords, I'd still like to see an Ulfberht. It'd be awesome to add an important piece of history to my Dovahkiin's collection. When making this thread, I was hoping to get the attention of such modders as InsanitySorrow, for the sword. Of course, I'm sure there are many great modders out there who are yet to be discovered.

Working on this armor, along other things for a not released project.

For this project I refuse to use ported content or make a remesh of existing stuff, so the model is 100% mine.

I have been using NorseViking Armor II by Croc, which contains some passable chainmail hauberks and Viking era helments. The Immersive Armors mod previously mentioned contains some chainmail hauberks that look like the ones in NorseViking Armor II, but these may not be as high-res as some folks are looking for. Immersive Armors also adds several shields, including Viking style round shields. One plus for Immersive Armors is that it adds it's armors, helmets, and shields to the leveled lists, so your character can encounter them in game on bandits, etc.

I have recently seen (but not yet downloaded) the new Simple Hauberk mod and Early-Middleages Helmets pack by VAultMaN30 that look promising for European Dark Ages and Early Middle Ages armors and helmets with a more detailed chainmail texture - I will be checking those out.

For fans of the History Channel's Vikings TV series, I have seen follower mods from MoFoPSN for some of the major characters like Ragnar Lodbrok and Lagertha - these appear to come with some Viking style gear.

Someone even created a Gokstad Sailable Ship and Portable Player Home mod.

There are a few Viking style mods for Skyrim here on the Nexus, and new Viking/Dark Ages stuff seems to be coming out every once in a while. My thanks to the many talented modders who supply their creations to us for free and keep Skyrim alive!
