Wrye Bash + Missing Eye Textures

Domas

Recommended Posts

After downloading Wrye Bash and getting my bashed patch to work, I was hoping this would fix the "missing textures" of nearly EVERY NPC's eyes. A good 95% of NPCs I encounter have "black" eyes. Nothing there at all but an empty void. It has gotten to the point where I can't get myself to sit down and ignore it, knowing I was unable to resolve this issue.

I recently downloaded Cobl Races TNR (name of the esp) which "Changes the face, eyes, hair of 1215 NPCs. Now NPCs are far more distinguishable from one another, and the races themselves are also far more distinct." My hopes were shattered when I installed, rebuilt my bashed patch, and nothing changed. This leads me to believe that it could possibly be my actual textures are messed up?

I have reinstalled HGEC, Male Body Replacers, and Demon Race; the only mods I could think of that either change appearance or add new eye textures.

If anyone has any idea of what is causing this and/or how to fix it, I will be forever grateful. You have no idea how annoying it is to explore a world where every NPC of any race has a black void where eyes should be.

On a side note, in Wrye Bash, ESMs are Blue, ESPs are black, Merged ESPs are green. Fine, that's normal. But why is Cobl Races TNR.esp and Cobl Races TNR SI.esp Purple? Their checkmarks are green, but text purple. I have checked the Wrye Bash.html "readme" and it doesn't say a word about it. All the readme says is, "• Text Colors

• Blue: An esm file.

• Green: A mod marked as mergeable (see Merge Patches)."

Maybe getting those purple ESPs to green would fix my issue?

Anyway, here is my load order, which has been BOSSed, Bashed, and works perfectly to my knowledge, apart from the eye issue.

Here are even my settings selected that I believe could be of use to figuring this issue out. Do I need to Import Actors, Factions, etc...? Wouldn't they work just by marking everything as Mergable, rebuilding my Bashed Patch, and having the originals load as it is? Or do I need to go ahead and import everything that precedes with the word "Import" in order to "Bash" my mods together and make them work more fluid?

Rebuild Patch01

Rebuild Patch02

Rebuild Patch03

EDIT: Rebuilt patch again after noticing Import NPC Faces... Still a no-go.

Rebuild Patch04

Again, much thanks in advance to anyone who could shed some light on this issue, and taking the time to read through all this. Very much appreciated.

Please, post your load order via Wrye Bash in the future - http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=know_how_to#PostYourLoadOrder

Beautiful PeopleV22 - MaleReplacerV4.esp <-- Get rid of this old plugin, and reinstall BC correctly, please. Actually, this mod is incompatible with COBL Races, completely and absolutely. Choose one or the other. They use different eye meshes. The added content is largely redundant, anyway...

One of the first mods to check is Beautiful People, as this mod replaces standard eye meshes. Even Wrye Bash has problems with this. From the Wrye Bash help file:

"When bash does its filtering, it determines what eye mesh each eye is using, and then filters the eyes for a given race to so that only eyes using the same mesh will be used. This is why it's important for mesh resources to be consistent."

Since you are using BOSS, you should consider setting Wrye Bash to automatic tagging -- bottom right window (Bash Tags)....right click and select 'Automatic'. This uses the tag suggestions for known mods from the BOSS masterlist.

I've never seen purple colours in Wrye Bash -- pink, but not purple. Pink background means files with same file time/date.

If the OP is running BOSS and seeing red highlight, that might be indicative of Lock Times being left on during the BOSS run.

I unloaded Beautiful PeopleV22 - MaleReplacerV4.esp and rebuilt my merged patch. Works perfectly now - People actually have eyes! But what exactly conflicts with Cobl Races? JUST the aforementioned esp? Or the entire Male Body Replacer? The only error I get is a conflicting mesh with HGEC, but so far had no problems so have just ignored it. Plus, by the description in OBMM, Cobl Races adds races, hair, eyes, but doesn't mention Body.

Robert's mod is merged into the Bashed Patch, which is another reason why you did not need that BP-Robert plugin. The problem is that COBL Races and Beautiful People are both cosmetic compilations that overhaul the vanilla races. They are simply incompatible. The body data is part of the RACE record. It does not matter which part of the record is modified, only that it is. BP does not modify the body data anymore than COBL Races does. Actually, I think COBL Races might change some of the body data settings. BP does not. However, none of that matters. COBL Races and BP are also even more incompatible because they use different eye meshes, hence the eye-related problem.

Alas, I'm not sure what else is causing this, but my eye textures are gone once again. Totally removed Robert's mod. I'm going to screw around with it tomorrow I think. Almost seems not worth it, or that I should just reinstall everything, including Oblivion, one at a time to find out what it is.

Why did you uninstall Robert's mod? It does not install eye files. Did you do anything else, change your Bash config, perhaps?

I thought you said it was totally incompatible? Either way it fixed it temporarily, at least for the Guard NPCs that I was testing on. Then I moved to the Arena and everyone has those "black eyes." I then rebuilt my bashed patch to include "Race Records" and the following race mods: OOO.esp, MMM-Resized Races.esp, DemonRace.esp, Cobl Races.esp, and Cobl Races - Balanced.esp. Rebuilding with those checked solved nothing but changing the "Blind" (White) eyes of my Demon character to some crazy blue/purple texture.

I'll reinstall Robert's male body replacer, excluding the extra esp you were mentioning, assuming that's all the is incompatible.

Also, on a side-note, Cobl Tweaks.esp randomly ghosted itself. Not sure why, and not that that has anything to do with eye textures, just kind of odd. Going to mark as "Don't Ghost"

I'll test some more tomorrow after work sometime around 3pm est. Thanks a bunch for your help, I'm sure I'll fix it somehow.

EDIT: Finally had some time to work on getting my game fixed today. Not sure what exactly what it was that was causing the problem, but this seemed to fix it:

-Reinstalled Robert's mod, disabled its optional addon.

-disabled Cobl Races TNR and TNR SI.esp's

-Rebuilt my bashed patch and unchecked Race Records

So far so good, no problems whatsoever.

Thanks for all the help!
