Vagrant0
It looks great  So how long did it take to get all the mats and how long was it to build? Too long. I'm going to have to give up on the map though, there's just too many freaking caves. By that, I mean I just looked at the map in cartographer, turned on cave mode, and it was bad enough to warrant a "holy f***" reaction. My tower and greenhouse is surrounded on nearly every side with caves. The portion I had managed to clear and cap off was a very small portion of the caves which are in that area. It's just too many tangled caves to really deal with and has made my progress too hard fought.

The areas which are light green to red are the ones I had managed to light up/clear. The blue parts are caves which have no lighting, the darker green-red sections are lava flows. Many of the tunnels poke up through the surface, or intersect at some of the various shafts. One of the shafts is deep enough to get to diamond territory, but also has several openings, as well as one topside so isn't particularly safe. Pyrosocial
WoW  Maybe you could relocate to the upper right hand part that has a large area free of natural caves
ub3rman123
That's a lot of caves. Is it not possible to just wall them off as you find 'em? And for that greenhouse.. Can snow not collect on ice or do torches melt snow?
katashy
Torches melt snow, as does lava.

ub3rman123
I just started making an underwater lair made with glass, and dang, working underwater is tough, especially if the map has Winter Mode. Bloody thing kept freezing up above me and killing me 'cause it takes a long time to hack through ice from underneath.

It melts things 2 blocks away, but keeps things from freezing 3 blocks away.
TheTerminator2004
I just started making an underwater lair made with glass, and dang, working underwater is tough, especially if the map has Winter Mode. Bloody thing kept freezing up above me and killing me 'cause it takes a long time to hack through ice from underneath. I've been doing that, but in creative mode. Mainly because I was able to use a custom map with a really deep ocean :P But it's a lot easier to do it, partly because you don't drown underwater, and partly because of the existence of sponges which can effectively block water. Then again, the water physics are harder - if theres a leak, it will flood your entire base extremely quickly - although I've placed plenty of airlocks throughout to help prevent too much damage being done.
