Snow maps are great. They just feel... nicer.

If you look at the second picture of mine, you can see my underwater base. No mobs can you get in there. It connects to another base on land which I use for mining, but recently it's been overrun by monsters.

Also, I'm curious as to what the secret Friday update will be. Maybe a use for all the pointless objects there are or a more stable and finished SMP? The best part is going into the game and trying to figure out what it is.

Don't know about nicer, I do know that it'll present a bit of a challenge in making an enclosed tree farm in that I need to figure out a way to keep the glass roof snow free. I'm half tempted to see what sort of range the lava keeps things warm and devising some means of directing a flow into glass channels. If I can find enough sand. There doesn't seem to be an obvious beach where I'm at, just a couple of small frozen ponds.

the trees won't grow in snow?

if you have a proplem digging you could make a short range cannon that will drop tnt straight down and get you down fast.

Trees need light to grow, snow covers glass blocking light. I could just stick 4 torches around each tree, and not have an issue, but I figure that if I'm gonna do something, it might as well look kinda cool when I'm done.

As for digging, the real part of the problem is in cutting into all the various caves filled with bad stuff as I go. I have not looked at the map in cartographer, but from the exploring I have done, the caves pretty much circle and cross under where I happen to be living. I also have a suspicion that there's a dungeon with a zombie spawner pretty close to the surface so I can't go digging too haphazardly. Add to it that bit about lava flows near the surface, and things get complicated pretty quickly.

I've only seen the mob spawners when they're inactive, because I hate wasting 7 minutes every 20 minutes just to wait for the sun to come up, but can't you just build blocks around it? Or dig a really deep pit under it..

I'm adding more TNT to the blast site. I'm gonna take this place out!

I havn't uncovered it yet, and there are still things inside. I'll probably try opening it up from the top to let sunlight in and clean it out. I'm not sure yet if I want to destroy it or turn it into a machine to generate an endless supply of feathers yet, but I guess that depends on how far down it is. First things first though involve blocking off parts of the cave so I can go mining and dealing with a place where things seem to spawn at night and fall into another opening for said cave.
