What's the first thing you do...

Is there something that you just have to do when you start a new game? And I don't mean taking the amulet to Jauffre or something like that, but like, steal something?

The first thing I do is run to the Waterfront and get a cutlass from the pirates.

First thing I do is press the Escape key to skip the opening movie. :)

But to be more precise with what you're looking for, the first thing I do is swim to Vilverin and destroy the two bandits outside. Always. Without fail.

Good thread.

Almost every character I have had has always made to the sewer exit, got outside and just went to the little dock near the exit and taken a moment to enjoy the fresh air and freedom, sitting at the waterside until the sun went down before heading off in search of some trouble to get into.

Some of them launch a few fireballs into the air as sort of mini freedom celebration.

I used to do that too, but since I started to use the Alternative Start mod I just go there when I pass by.

After exit the sewers, there's only 1 thing to do, before start to play:

Find Dive Rock and Jump!!!http://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gifhttp://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gifhttp://www.thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/tongue.gif

I started once ...

then I noticed Vilverin, headed there, encountered a bandit, lured him away (no wait, it was a woman), fought her, killed her, fetched the loot, discovered another bandit, ran away (couldn't carry more stuff, so I decided to retreat), got to IC market and tried to earn as much money as possible.

Well, was not too much, but enough to buy some basic stuff.

Talked to some people, started my first sidequest (you know, Thoronir), explored and looted the first dungeons near IC (not that easy with only 225+ a bit per lvl) ... :)

25 hours now without touching main quest.

next time?

Think of a similar start, but deliver the amulet earlier.

I'm a bit of a cheat so when I start the game I got to vilverin and kill the bandits and then I head to jauffre and deliver the amulet but then I go to levalling and when Iðm on level 5 or I go to kvatch and then I close oblivion gates and level some more :turned:

First thing I do is spend about 10 minutes clicking through the various messages and confirmation boxes that I get spammed with from over 300 mods initializing themselves at the beginning of a new game. Next, a bit of "housekeeping" is in order.

I configure all the mods that require configuring -- right now that's Kobu's Character Advancement (my leveling mod of choice currently), Reneer's Guard Overhaul, and some assorted options in my thirst and sleep mods. Next stop is the COBL Options menu to turn on the automatic clock display every 30 minutes, and assign a clock key and an arrow denock key. I also turn on the "spell delete" and "move quest items" functions, and turn off the poison confirmation message. Next it's into the UOP options menu to turn off the vampire face fix lesser power so I don't have it cluttering my spell screen. I then head for the spell screen itself to delete any of the automatic starter spells that this particular character wouldn't be using, and assign hotkeys for the rest. Now it's time to go through my inventory and stuff all those mod config items (you know, "RGO Config Ring" and such) into a storage sack so I don't have to see the immersion killers whenever I open my inventory. Next I open the console and configure any mods that require console tweaks -- currently that's Storms & Sound, and FearRabbit's Transportation Network.

I use an alternative start mod, so the next order of business is for my character to fill out her "immigration forms" (this is where I choose the options I want to start with). After the game actually begins and the start mod spits me out on the waterfront docks, some quick fast traveling is in order to disable a couple of buildings and assorted landscaping conflicts that crop up from my stubborn insistence on using certain mods together. My very last stop is collecting my CM Partner from wherever he or she starts out (assuming I'm using one; sometimes I go it alone).

NOW I'm ready to actually begin playing the game! Hehehe.

I nearly always choose to start in the Imperial City, and the first order of business is finding a place to sleep for the night and purchasing what little equipment I can afford -- which means I inevitably do the Thoronir quest first simply because it's the first one that pops up when you go shopping in the IC Marketplace.

After that? Sky's the limit... it depends on the background and motivations of the particular character I'm roleplaying.

Well I don't really 'play' the game just make screens, I have a mod that skips the tutorial part and puts me straight at the sewer exit. The first thing I do is to take a rather long tour around Cyrodiil and collect all the clothing/armor/weapon mods I have loaded in, it's important for a girl to look her best when posing for the camera ;)
