Save Game Script Cleaner

well... the safe way stays to backup your save before installing or uninstalling a mod.

i tried the save cleaner on a really messed up save file , and it end making the eyes of my char flicker, and dropping weird flicker/glitches on meshes/textures.
so yeah. i'm keeping with the safe-mode method "Backup your files"

Would that be more of an issue from overwritten textures which can be prevented by using mod organizer though? Just wondering because looking around, it seems most people consider removing any scripted mod meant a death sentence for the save game unless you revert to an earlier save without the mod.

I actually found the save game script cleaner has saved my game a few times. I always do try to revert to an older save when uninstalling a mod, but sometimes when that's not an option (either I've stupidly overwritten it, or done loads of stuff since), I will just use the script cleaner, and so far my game is still pretty intact :) Usually though I try not to remove script heavy mods, unless I have a backup save, but sometimes, like when I've found a mod was spamming my papyrus (and also turned out to be the cause for my frequent CTDs) I'll remove it, use the script cleaner, and CTDs are mostly gone then and it's okay. Just, make sure you know what you're doing when you use it, and I'd always have a backup save before using the tool, just in case.

Lol, nonsense. That's just going overboard.. It is true, removing scripted mods can muck up savegames but it's not as severe as people think, and quite rare. Unless you had like a dozen heavy script mods uninstalled at once, the impact should be very minimal and not even noticeable.

And that was before. Now with the script cleaner tool there's no reason to worry about removing scripted mods anymore. There's also another other save cleaners, like the one that removes dead cells. The best one for me would be the script scapel diagnostic tool (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53045). Very thorough and guaranteed to fix most saves so long as you know what you're doing.

So really, there's no deadend to a savegame, because there's always a fix. I once had my savegame bloat up to over 100MB in size but I've since reduced it to below 50MB. And this is the same 400+ hours savegame I've had countless abandoned scripts and mods. Yeah, I'm the kind that plays just one character and sticks to that character save throughout. So you can imagine...
