Nuracus
Greetings! I tried searching a bit in the forums and browsing some files, because I wanted to expand the playable territory of Oblivion. Got a little confused, not really sure what's possible and what I can expect though. First of all:There are small mods to remove the invisible borders. That's not necessary, right? Because there's an entry in the Oblivion.ini, I just have to set the borders from 1 to 0. Right? Second:If I only do that, can I just keep walking and ... then? Is there a walkable land behind those borders? Third:There are several mods like "Total Tamriel", for example. I'm not quite sure what they do because I don't fully understand that border-thing. So, if I need to turn off the borders and install Total Tamriel ... I can walk all over Tamriel, right? But there are no cities, no people, no NPCs at all? No dungeons, forts or whatsoever? Are there random enemies, like wolves? Fourth:In order to get a wonderful extra-cyrodillian experience, what will I have to do?Speaking of cities, NPCs and maybe quests found in Hammerfell, Morrowind or whatever I'd be able to go to. Thanks for your help :)
ub3rman123
There's a couple of huge mods out there working on making the other provinces, but to my knowledge, none of them have been completed nor will they for quite some time. As for unmodded space beyond the borders.. Nope, not really. For a few cells you'll see the usual decorations, but then it'll all just drop off into a flat abyss. For the heighmap mods, yeah, it's just the heightmaps, and maybe some trees and rocks. I haven't tried one myself, though. Actuallu, now that I think about it, there is the Elswyr: Deserts of Anequina mod,if you want to explore Elswyr. It's got quests, NPC's, cities, etc.
Nuracus
Cool, thanks.I've seen there are more mods for the other parts, too, like Hammerfell. Still: do I need a mod to disable the borders, or is it enough just to edit the Oblivion.ini?
ub3rman123
It's usually enough. Some people have to install a mod to disable the borders because their computer's security won't let them edit it.
