dezzybird
I have a mod which adds a couple of new helmets but I like the texture of helmet 1 and the stats of helmet 2. What I want to know is: How would I go about getting the texture from 1 onto helmet 2 using GECK? I don't think I can just change the stats of my preferred texture since it has this ability to scan an enemy so I imagine that complicates things. My experience with GECK extends to changing the stats on a piece of armour so please use little words. Thanks for any help.
gigantibyte
Are the textures for these helmets included in the mod? With your mod of choice loaded in GECK, It should be possible to switch the location of the model in the properties window. However, my experience with the latest GECK gives me "Invalid Directory" errors when I do this myself. Popular advice says to add custom textures in folders below Data/Meshes or Data/Textures, but isn't working for me. I don't think I can just change the stats of my preferred texture since it has this ability to scan an enemy so I imagine that complicates things. If you don't mind running two mods for one helmet, you should be able to easily transfer all stats and resources to the helmet you like better. You'll need GECK setup to use multiple masters. It's an ini setting. Then load New Vegas and the mod with the good features as masters, and the mod with the good model as the active file. Then you can open the properties for each helmit side-by-side and adjust the settings accordingly. Any needed script should be available for selection in the second helmet. Though I haven't used it myself, there is a tool that will allow you to combine multiple mods into one. Join the two mods in question, then edit the combined mod in GECK. ArekkusuStorm
So.. the easy way is to just go to the folder where the textures are located and replace the texture file you don't want with the one you want. But, to do it the GECK way:After you select the mod as the activated one, in the Object Window go under the miscellaneous tab and go to Texture Set.Right click the window, create new.Fill in the ID.Press Diffuse and press edit then navigate to the texture file you want and possible do the same for the normal map as well.Press OK.Find and edit the armour. For the male or female model, press edit.Right click the mesh that you want to change the texture for (may include multiple parts), choose the texture set. dezzybird
So.. the easy way is to just go to the folder where the textures are located and replace the texture file you don't want with the one you want. That sounds like it might be easier. Would I just copy the wanted texture into the file for the helmet I want it on? Edit: Just tried it and it worked! Thanks :) Edited November 9, 2014 by dezzybird
