Boudro Posted August 11, 2010 Share Posted August 11, 2010 I'm extremely new to modding and i have a goal to eventually create my own house, as none of the ones of the file sites caught my eye...problem is, i cant even get a dang plate to add in my game... i went through a basic modding tutorial and it started with just adding a plate to wawnet inn, saving the file, and testing it.however, even though i have saved it and activated it on the "Data Files" link in the launcher, my minor changes still wont even appear.. Not even my plate i added on the ground or the cabbage i blew up to like 3x its size. its frustrating me as ive tried many times, many different ways, and still cant get the simplist thing to work.anyone know what im doin wrong or that can help me? You need to take a deep breath, be prepared to learn; read, read, re-read, and read again. Please start here . There are no easy luches when it comes to mod making. I forget its exactness. Ensure to use the shift key to be able to look at different perspective. It is quite possible that you simply had the items in question put above or too far below or to the side of the interior. Just try, try and try again. My best advice is to spend 10 - 20 minutes just screwing around. This is how I learned modding, and I've never taken a single tutorial. I did random things until I found out what those random things did. Make a throw away mod, one that you'll test but will promptly delete once you learned more. I suggest using Aleswell interior as a learning basis, as it's easy to find, easy to find on the list, and is just quick. If you want I'll make you a tutorial on how to make a house, three levels, (basement, bottom, and upper story.) later on. My internet is sketchy, so by the time I finish it it'll probably require another day in the least to even have connection strong enough to upload anything. But anyways, it is good you went to the forums for help. Always come here when stuck and unable to find the answer on your own. Modding from a newbie stance looks so complex and scientific, but once you've gotten the hang of it you will soon realize how very easy it all became, and how easier it is to learn new concepts knowing the priors. I'd never get as knowledgeable in modding if not for a few who took interest in me and my abilities, and decided to never get angry or let it known if they where ever annoyed when I had a question. Now if only I can remember who those couple were.... At the VERY beginning.... I want to say Slof to some point, Lhammonds definitely, Buddah with certain things but more so on site things... Vagrant0 PreAdmin helped a lot... Dezdimona (Bless her overly emotional outbursts, I miss her.) I think did some although I can't remember to what extent... But there was one or two main schibangers there that I can't remember.... I downloaded the latest patch but extracted it to the backup data file instead of my active one and so the construction set and my game werent patched up right.
