Elsarian
O.K. we all have used cape mods. Whether it be OOO, Hemingweys. or what ever, but we have all probably tried to put a cape on our warriors or mages to make them look cool. But then you go into third person and see that they just stick to your body and move slightly when you walk or run. So, my question is, what would it take for a modder to create something that actually made the cape flutter in the air? Or flap when you ride you horse or when a strong wind is blowing? I ask this just out of curiosity to see how hard and complicated it would be. I have always wanted to see "true capes" in this game but oh well. And one more question, would you also like to see this type of mod in Oblivion as well or maybe in the next one? I just think that it would really be amazing to stand on the side of a cliff during an amazing sunset and then a breeze comes along and your cape just starts flapping in the wind while you admire the view.........and then along comes a minotaur hahahaha well you get what I am saying, it would just be really immersive to have something like that! Thanks for any input!! :) -Elsarian
documn
You would have to modify the player and horse-riding skeleton to have cape bones. And then you would need to make a cape where the mesh is weighted to the cape bones. And then you would have to modify existing animations to use the cape bones. For the strong wind, I think it would be possible to make a "windy idle" animation, and force it to play that idle when the wind is blowing. At least, that's the only way I think it would work with Oblivion's engine.
Elsarian
So if you have to do all that, then why do you think one has tried to do it? Or does it take LOTS of time to do what you just said?

albonaut
You have no idea how much I would love to see a cape mod like that for Oblivion. Alas, no one has done it because like was said, it would take lots and lots of time. And even if you did manage to pull off everything documn said, I don't think that it's going to work quite like you're imagining it, unfortunately. Elsarian
Yes I know, that is the sad part of the whole thought that I had. It would be an amazing mod and just so immersive!! But it will probably never happen. All I can probably do is to just hope that they include it in the next game. I just can not wait to see what Bethesda brings to the table with TES V!!! I am dying to just play it!! Thank you all for providing input to my curious mind! Who knows, mabe Bethesda will surprise us!!!!
