What's the name of the Comedy?

They did not even have calculators when I was in junior high public school. I had heard that the private school in our area had been allowed calculators just about the time I started, what they call middle school, now-a-days. Many mathematical minds were upset because, in their opinion, it was a sign of a national educations troubled by signs more students were showing weakened mental skills.

The government is likely not restricting computer Internet access for the obvious reasons. It is more likely they just can't afford it without cutting someone else's budget. Someone's budget for a project that is too important to trim a little of the fat off of.

For me being held bacl by something leads to anger and copious excesses of determination and zeal.

It's just how I've been raised-an intellectual obstacle threatens? smash it!

I dont know what it's like for you lot. But I grew up in central brisbane and the schools there are hell, honestly truly the domain of demons. Children run screaming about like rabid animals, fights break out that draw blood and teachers do not patrol the play grounds for fear of being involved in the many and varied violent disputes.

School pride for me is a laughable notion. The internet censor is so extreme that you simply werent allowed to use it. Here is my high schools black list for sites of "dubious content", not the full list mind you, just some names worth mentioning.

Wikipedia-blacklisted for pornography, blasphemy, spreading unclean religions(islam, paganism)

The federal government's web page-you just arent allowed on, period.

Google maps-blacklisted as adult entertainment.

almost anything with an .edu tag.

and you werent allowed onto anything without a .au tag either-they didnt like them foreign buggers much.

The internet they payed through the nose for is absolutely uselss to students at the 4 schools I've been to since no page I imputed came up.

The library is a wasteland, australian libraries are truly aweful-if you want a good book you gotta buy it, but aside from a vast enid blighton collection, they're almost totaly bare. Most schools sold theirs for profit.

And you can forget entirely about an education if you'rr "special" Some kids got expelled simply for being "retarded". If you had ANY sort of mental illness, you were dogmeat in the teacher's eyes. Sure, good teachers existed, some truly inspiring people worked as teachers despite the utter failure of their schools to teach-but I only ever knew three out of 88.

My year 5 teacher for example was an inspiration, wereas everyone else that school was agressive and sometimes literaly struck students to induce compliance-she tried to win allegiance by treating us with respect, it worked, I certainly never questioned her authority, and she gave me a damn good education to, and contributed greatly to my drawing abilities.

But my year 6, 7, and 8 teacher all made up for it. The 7 woman was such a pain-I'm not a christian. I'm mostly aetheist, but have an interest in the norse mythology and pantheon-my family is roughly half norse-scots. I asked her at the begining of the year when she we would be doing a lot of religious work if we would get to choose who we studied and she looked at me as if I'd asked what direction up was.

She pretty much filed me away as an idiotic heathen, especialy when during the school's theme day roled as "vikings" I gave everyone an earful for being racist towards my ancestors-and the teacher an earful for being an ignorant bigot and making the whole thing based on the fantasy notion of vikings as moronic ogres who go around pilaging and plundering because they liked it. She also called them vikings, probably just to piss me off. When I performed a word-perfect invocation to Hel and Thor, she got a little pale around the eyes and ordered me to "be silent".

Religion made up a huge and frustrating part of my schooling in public schools, the first hour in 3/4 that I went to was spent praying and reading from the bible. I dont like that. It simply assumes kids are christians, not all of them were. From then on, spelling, rather than language, was the second most prevalent, as was the endless oceans of math and the obligatory sport.

Sports was atleast fun-I did OK as a midfielder in soccer, and then did really well as a quaterback in flag football, but I didnt go to school to learn how to do fieldgoals and touchdowns now did I? No, How is it in my school system? bloody aweful! :pirate:

I understand how frustrating school is. I learned that the schools I attended had three doors. The one led to the exit, another an entrance, and the one to the industry. The one that gave all the local businesses the other families made up, gave them all a place to build around it to earn a living here.

I did not realize the fourth door to higher education, because the Smelter had a chemist, and that was the only other esteemed member, other than doctors of medical science, that existed in the city.

I took an aptitude test, and a few things I remember came back very high, Chef, Carpenter, Machinist, Mechanic. I do like working with my hands, which is probably why those 4 came up. And I did take a few shop classes in high school, which were the only classes I looked forward to. I think these tests are designed to figure out what people enjoy doing, and then tell them particular trades/skills that would suit them based on what they enjoy. Oh, and I am a horrible cook, and don't really enjoy cooking, so I happen to disagree with that suggestion.

High School included welding, sheet metal, and drafting in shop. Electronics was available as was Linotype. Juniors and Senior's could take elective courses, e.g., higher level courses which included chemistry, Algebra, Geometry, etc. as well as Astrophysics which were set up to prepare them for the colleges or Universities.

Oh the comedy? It's a Iranian film about a janitor who is a genius.

Is there any chance you might remember the name of the movie? So I can get a look at it.

I don't remember the name exactly but I'll look it up for you.

:geek: I would have tried myself, but the random chance I would manage to find it is so great, I thought you might shorten the search for me.

I might not be able to understand it if they do not have English subtitles.

Although, comedies tend to use a god deal of gestures, facial expression, and stunts that make them funny if you understand the basic mood of the movies.

 Thanks.
