I've tried everything I could think of.

I have been playing Fallout 3 for over 150 hours now, and I feel all that time is being thrown back at me with the constant crashes that I'm facing. I have tried all the fixes that are commonly known except for Fallout Fake Windowed screen.

Unless there is anyone who could offer some form of advice, I'm not sure I can keep playing this file much longer.

OMG! I looked at your load order,

first and foremost you haven't even used LOOT yet ( if you have then something is wrong because ALL of your ESM's should be at the top )

Secondly, and just as important, you do not have a merged or bashed patch, bad, very bad

Give this a read and see if anything will help you

"This load order has bee n calculated by LOOT." This is your problem. LOOT does not place the files in the correct order for Fallout 3.

You should look to the bottom of the FWE description page for a sample load order. Or even better, use BOSS. http://boss-developers.github.io/ It was developed to be used by the older games, ie: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout:New Vegas.

One thing you must remember, .esm (Elder Scroll Master) is always loaded first. You will find some .esp that have a file extension of plugin but a file header of master. They should load with the other .esm (FO3 Wanderers Edition - Alternate Travel)

The .esp (Elder Scroll Plugin) should be arranged in the same order as the vanilla game.

Compatibility patches are to be placed after the last plugin they are patching.

It is a credit to your equipment that the game will even start with the mess you have for a load order.

M48A5,

while you are right about BOSS being made for the older games, there is one thing you are forgetting, BOSS has not been supported for 6 months now which means that EVERY mod that has come out in the last 6 months won't be supported by BOSS, so LOOT is the way to go for sorting. This is very much so since LOOT is still being updated for all games supported, not just the newer ones.

Popped in here t o give some help , seems some have been left out of the loot...Loot? LOL, ok . but here is where things are and No , BOSS IS being supported...BY me. Just not in the open. My apologies to the OP here, I had made a profile and load order when you first posted this here, I have a life, kids and things and just plain forgot about it.

@gromulos: this is for your education, thee is more too but if you know how to use notepad ++, you can obtain the information right from your own hard drive and recreate whats shown here in these shots.

And yet you have not addressed the original problem. The load order show in the origianl post was generated by LOOT and will not work for Fallout 3. If you were to read the load order and the complete post, you would also come to the same conclusion.

I also play FO 3, just started a new play through yesterday, used LOOT to sort my load order, LOOT sorted it correctly. But then again, I also used Wrye Flash after LOOT and then used FO3Edit after Wrye Flash, just like my guide says. BUT, and this is the most important thing I can say here, Don't take my own personal word for it, just look at my Skyrim Beginners Guide, same steps, same information except Program Names, and look at all of the people who I have helped by having them follow my guide step by step. They say a picture is worth 1000 words, or actions speak louder than words, my guide speaks for itself. Yes I know my guide is NOT a catch all, it's not going to help fix EVERY problem that can happen on every computer, but it was written specifically for beginners who are just starting out and can benefit from that knowledge, just like I believe Flatchester can.

@Purrforme - While I did look at your 8 or so screen shots, and I do fully understand what they show, you supporting BOSS is NOT the same as the developement team { silentspike AND Wrinklyninja ( the official owner of both BOSS and LOOT ) } supporting BOSS, unless you happen to be part of that team OFFICIALLY.

This load order has bee n calculated by LOOT.

Getting back to your question and on topic. if you can provide me with a current play through / saved game if it is at all possible, I can render a better sorted order and advise.

as much as many wish to help on these kinds of things, I am here to help you specifically so lets get to it.

"SUPPORT" is this, this is support for a game, and tools used and the user asking for help, outlined and categorized to the letter.

Profiled and waiting.

This is the meaning of support. This is the meaning of TEAM work.

Yes, I have had some good news. I appears whenever I am using Fake Fullscreen the game will stop crashing, though the problem is that the top border doesn't vanish entirely and is still visible as I play. Overall the game appears to be doing fine despite the obstruction.

Yes, I have had some good news. I appears whenever I am using Fake Fullscreen the game will stop crashing, though the problem is that the top border doesn't vanish entirely and is still visible as I play. Overall the game appears to be doing fine despite the obstruction.

that would indicate Either the display driver is not a signed driver Microsoft will except? or is incorrect / damaged some how, or is missing a dll file.....possibly the latter, or you have installed at one time or another ..ehem, tweaks to that effect. (ENB) ? maybe?

If the display shows a border then it's the drivers bug, a full screen in windowed mode....let's see. how can I explain it "dumbed down some?"

when you change the graphics size...the resolution size for the game from 800x600 to say (1280x1224) and in game "console command"

( ~ ) and then start typing out a word or two, you can't see the words .....< this in effect is the bug, it is the drivers bug that runs on the system.

Fomm....in it's setting for graphics, when it is chosen, it now is in total command of that games display driver settings, no matter what you do fomm now owns it our right.

when we use MO, and use Fomm within MO to sort and access other tools Fomm has...we need to access while in a virtual tree? Fomm still owns the driver properties.

what I'm getting at is, when you load the game, there is some kind of visible shift seen on the display of the OS, even the desk top will be effected.

That display driver is the heart of the game, Just so you know, everything gets pumped through it. If there is a problem or other software that needs to access or is accessing the Dwm.exe while in game play? then you will have problems.

one way off possibility is the display it's self? is it a TV? LED, or new type? CRC monitor or what? the hardware may have a call in it calling back to the PC's graphics card......you just need to find out all you can...you would be surprised how some things are so simple and then some times in order to find them you need to speak with others .

certified drivers are required for today's machines. There is a digital war going on out there and we are the cannon fodder.
