Oblivion Origins

To my fellow adventurers,

 

I have noticed that some modders have made unique instances where a player could start a new game, such as the ship (flashback to Morrowind) so I started to work on an idea.

This idea focuses on specific class origins that all find a way to obtain the Amulet of Kings so the main story is not broken. I am just a amateur modder at best having done personnal mods only so this time I am reaching out to others that could help. I have some examples of what I have in mind so bear in mind they are written in stone.

 

Warrior - Fade in to Arena Bloodworks, character rises from bedroll as other Gladiator rouses them. NPC Gladiator asks for character's perfered weapon and is handed set eqiupment. "Gong" sounds sending 3 NPC's to arena door as NPC Gladiator tells character its time for a match. Character follows NPC Gladiator into Arena. Loud cheering, arena announcer cues in with speech about the coming fight. 5 on 5 renactment of the Akavari Wars with player on the supposed losing side. Character survives(hopefully) and returns to Red Room only to be prospected by the Blades. News arrives that the Emperor has been slain and the Amulet of Kings has been stolen. On the way to Imperial City character intercepts Mythic Dawn trio carrying the Amulet. On the leader's body is a note reminding him to avoid the road to Weyland Priory where a hidden Blades headquarters may be. They suspect is Wayland Priory but they are not sure. Character goes to Jaufree with amulet and main quest can now begin.

 

Mage - Fade in to the Arcane Unniversity. Character wakes inside a dorm room while NPC Mage digs through chest looking for lost book. Character rises and finds book. Character gives book to NPC with raises Disposition of NPC and triggers background questions. What kind of magic is the character skilled in, which kind they are here to learn and what kind of mage they aspire to be(Battlemage, Wizard, Alchemist etc that will arm the player with starting equipment) Bell sounds for class and character follows NPC to outside gathering. Professor starts class and goes over the Orientation. Class is breif with a small explanation on each School of Magic. After class the Proffesor wants to speak to teh Character and introduces you as a Mage of a nobleblood line, the first ever to be allowed into the unniversity without going through the Recommendations of each Mage Guild. (The Reccomendations will come up later as Final Tests for each class of school.) Just as the player's next class is about to start an Battlemage runs up to the Professor and tells him the Ol Emperor has been killed and the Amulet stolen. The Professor acts quickly telling you and your roommate NPC to follow him into the sewers to locate the body. Player finds the assassins and with Professor's help finds the Amulet of Kings. Professor tells player that only one man will know what to do with this and sends the player on an Errand to deliver it to the Priory. Main Quest now begins.

 

Theif - Fade to Campsite, player is geting kicked by NPC Bandit Leader and told to "Git up and Git armed, someone is coming". The player rises as an old bandit reveals that the player is a new recruit to teh band of theives as payment for being broken out of the Skingrad Castle Prison. The old bandit hands the player simple equipment and tells him to folllow the leader to the ambush site. Player crouches and waits for leader signal to jump incoming merchants. Slaughter insues with the merchants going down hard. The leader comes across a locked chest that breaks his only lockpick. The player proceeds to unlock the chest and grab the loot. The leader heads back to camp where the loot is divied up with the survivors and the leader hands the player modest loot and coin. Leader asks player what they did to get locked up which the player replies to determine specific class (Assassin, Rouge, Theif, etc) skills. The other members have cleared the ambush point of the bodies with news of another group approching. Mythic Dawn agents heading to Camora's last known location but the leader does not know this and sees only another rich target. The group lines up another ambush but find find out they are the ones in for a surprise as hidden MD agents appear and stealth kill the bandit group, player is outof site and is given a chance to counter attack. Player finds Amulet of Kings and thinks they can get alot of coin for it. Next time player sleeps a strong dream urges the Theif to Weyland Priory. Main quest can now begin.

 

 

Those are just some examples of the 3 base types of characters with plans on working for future origins for the various subclasses. Maybe even some view points never seen before such as the MD Assassin that killed the Emperor and gets away from Barius to take the Amulet to Cammora. Again these are just ideas and perhaps a hand reaching out for others to asist on making a mod like this. Thank you for taking the time to read, All comments welcome.

minor suggestion...

Have it start off with a sort of dream where you design your character and are asked about who you are by something, based on your answers you go to a different opening, would make implementation much easier than if you had to for instance switch around the mods for the different openings like a Morrowind animation mod without the anim kit
