LHammonds
There is also Xfire. I have not used it but heard that it works. There is another freebie that is fairly old and open source but it cannot record audio. Taksi If you are wanting to record Windows apps (not DirectX), you might want to look at CamStudio (oh, you mentioned this)....but you might be able to use it if your DirectX game can play inside a window...hmmm... WeGame might also do the trick to record DirectX games. I have not tried it but it is at least free and you can give it a shot (no pun intended...ok, it was a little) GameCam is also free (as mentioned). A non-free solution called Snag-It is also available but I do not think it can do DirectX games. I've used it for creating Blender tutorials though. JimboUK
Forget my link to Game Cam, the free version is so crippled it's not worth the bother.
Pyrosocial
ok so the ones i am considering are camstudio and Xfire.is there a lag when you use it while recording games?
LHammonds
ok so the ones i am considering are camstudio and Xfire.is there a lag when you use it while recording games?Any process running in the background is going to cause a reduction in possible FPS. If your machine can barely run the game as is, it may be a dramatic impact. If your game runs as smooth as silk, you may not notice any difference. JimboUK
http://camstudio.org/faq.htm#OpenGL By the sounds of this Camstudio can only record DirectX and OpenGL if they're windowed. EDIT by LHammonds: I already mentioned that.
chrisadam
Debut is video capture software that lets you capture video files directly on a PC from a Webcam, external devices, computer screen or streaming video. Debut Video Recording Software saves the new video file on your hard drive as AVI, WMV, or many other file types. You can also capture a snapshot (video still) from a video recording and save it to JPEG. Debut is designed to be very easy and intuitive to use, giving you the ability to record essentially anything from capturing video from a Webcam, your screen, or video input devices such as a VHS recorder within minutes of downloading._________________________________________________________________________________ Want to get-on Google's first page and loads of traffic to your website?
