Can't find FalloutNV.exe, and NVSE is NOT in data file.

I'm trying to get NVSE to work, and I did everything. I extracted the files using 7Zip, making a folder titled 'nvse_4_5_beta7'. I then put the entire folder in the FalloutNV folder, WITHOUT putting it in the data folder. However, when I try to launch it, it brings up "couldn't find FalloutNV.exe. Is there anything I'm missing?

The mistake you made was just putting the entire folder in your game directory.

 

Here:

 

1. Download NVSE

2. Unpack the download

3. Open the newly created folder

4. Select everything you see inside

5. Drag and drop into your Fallout New Vegas main directory

6. Run it using the NVSE launcher (or the FOMM/NMM launch options if use those).

 

Should work now after doing that.

I'm having the same issue, I'm using Vortex and have NVSE .dll and .exe in my FNV folder but when I try to launch NVSE through Vortex it says the application can't find FalloutNV.exe. The vanilla launcher works, Steam's launcher works, Launching vanilla through Vortex works, launching it through NVSE.exe works, but for some reason launching NVSE through Vortex specifically just doesn't. Any advice?

Is NVSE in your Dashboard?

Make NVSE PRIMARY, click the three vertical dots and pick MAKE PRIMARY

I input concole command getNVSEVersion and the output is as it should be, "NVSE: 5"

Update: I got it to work. Had to go to the edit tab on the NVSE selection in Vortex and redirect both the Target to "...common/Fallout New Vegas/nvse_loader.exe" and the Start In to "...common/Fallout New Vegas"
