Itachi314
after seeing the phoenix set mod (below) ive wondered how he did it, can someone put a link, or simply tell me how it was done. and i would also like to know if its possible to put that fire effect for fire magic instead of that stupid red glow thing http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/4949-1-1193457874.jpg
LHammonds
#1 - Both the armor and weapons have fire-like textures on them.#2 - The weapons have the fire animation from torches copied to them using NifSkope. I do not know of a tutorial that shows how to make flame-based weapons but that does not mean there isn't one out there.
Itachi314
1. thats a bad picture the armor is suppose to emit flames as well. 2. Do you happen to know how to attach the flames to the weapons, i dont quite know my way around nifskope.
LHammonds
1. thats a bad picture the armor is suppose to emit flames as well. Are you sure? Have you seen it work that way? If that is the mod I'm thinking it is, there was no flame animation on the armor. Although you could create a particle effect but it does not look like the torch flame. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2YkKJfoz3c 2. Do you happen to know how to attach the flames to the weapons, i dont quite know my way around nifskope.Do I know? Yes. Have I created a tutorial on it? Nope. Never really had enough questions about it to warrant the creation of a tutorial. There is a tutorial on the CS Wiki about how to recolor the flame effect...can be handy if you want to modify how the flame looks...but know that you cannot have weapons that act like the torch and give off light (at least not just like the torch where you simply control it by using a flameon and flameoff command). But as I was saying, it is a matter of opening a torch (torch02.nif IIRC) in one NifSkope window, then open your sword.nif with NifSkope in another window. Then Copy Branch and Paste Branch from the torch to the sword. You'll need to play around with this to figure out which is the correct Branch to copy. Make sure NifSkope is in Tree view. You might need to edit the xyz coordinates of the flame to tweak the location. LHammonds
Itachi314
1. Wow nice video and why does your glass armor look..... so much cooler? Can you post a link for it please. 2. Thanks for answering my questions and since you know how to do all this would you be willing to do my mod request? http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/231040-mod-request/ edit* ya the armor doesnt emit flame it emits an orange glow thing. ub3rman123
The reason for that armor looking awesome is because LHammonds made it himself, and is refusing the release it just to tease Pushkatu (Shame!). Anyways... Yes. the Phoenix armor just has a glow map applied to it, although I daresay it'd look awesome if I could figure out animating textures and actually make it glow (That possible on armor? I've seen it on weapons and shields).

Great, i guess im gonna have to learn how to use nifskope..... anyhow the weird thing with the phoenix armor is when i first put it on it continuously emitted a orange glow not sure what magic cast it looks like (i forgot) then when i fast traveled it decided not to work. ub3rman123
The continuous orange glow is likely just a glow map, so it looks like it's emitting light. Although I haven't tried it myself.
LHammonds
1. Wow nice video and why does your glass armor look..... so much cooler? Can you post a link for it please. It is a re-imagined version of the Morrowind Glass armor but brought up to the visual standards of Oblivion. (if you port the morrowind glass into Oblivion, it looks like low-quality junk in comparison to the quality of all the other armors) Vvardenfell Glass is a Work-In-Progress...and just to set the record straight, I did not "create" the armor set. The original model was created by Jcarl904 and the textures by grimdeath. I've just been slicing and dicing and getting it ready for primetime such as cutting it up into different equipment slots, body types / genders, various changes (what I'd call improvements but that is just my opinion) to the models and textures as well as adding matching weapon sets, color variations and a plugin to bring it all together. 2. Thanks for answering my questions and since you know how to do all this would you be willing to do my mod request? http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/231040-mod-request/Sorry, I am not taking any additional requests at this time. I have a LOT to do on my project list and things are moving very slowly for me right now. I've also limited myself to working on just one project at a time. edit* ya the armor doesnt emit flame it emits an orange glow thing.Yep, that would just be a glowmap. It emits light rays but does not actually give off light that illuminates the surrounding area. Article: Glowmaps 101 It may be possible to use a water material (not sure if it works on armor/clothing) but it would only look good in the Oblivion realm since the water material there is lava. Everywhere else it is a blue water. Reference Mod: Living Metal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3YkW2OfJ_k
