Just wondering how to create lace for UV textures in Photoshop so I can create lace textures on some of my clothing mods. Anyone know how this is done? Thanks. I know how to create alpha channels. Just need a tutorial on how to create lace patterns and the like.

I create mine in the DDS Alpha channel. In Photoshop I copy a flower pattern over an existing dds Just to get the size right. Change the picture to black and white – this may be all you need to do. You can use negative to switch the white and black depending on the way you want it to look. Select the all the white and change it to grey. Select all the black and change it to a darker grey. Copy the whole thing into the Alpha channel. The different greys select how transparent the item is. Darker more transparent all the way to Black invisible and lighter all the way up to white solid. Once this is done you can change the RGB channel to what ever you want one colour even. The alpha channel will dictate where you can see through the RGB and by how much.

I not any good at NifScope but I have found

With some Meshes you have to adjust the nimaterialproperty alpha property to get it to show and sometimes adding a NiAlphaProperty to the mesh is enough.

you need a NIAlphaPropery on a mesh if you need alpha transparency. the alpha material property will not do anything other wise.

if you are using alpha transparency maps, ie the map you dump into the diffuse maps alpha channel, then leave the alpha material property alone, the transparency will be completely controlled by the texture.

Yeah, I know about how to get transparencies working. I did those for my glowing/glass tables. Anyway, the question is.... how to make the flower pattern or where to find flower patterns to work with in the first place?

texture resource sites. of which cgtextures is the first stop. < i bet you find more lace photos there than anywhere.

to actually create the pattern by hand in photoshop. pattern maker. or alternatively look into if there are any pattern maker specialty programs. they exist. or even pattern maker plugin filters for photoshop.
