Preset Character Creation Faces

Since the faces for Oblivion are quite atrocious (well... unless you're willing to spend the better part of an hour trying to make a semi-decent character), I've opted to search for preset faces that I can use in my game. So I was wondering if there were any around. I tried to use the FaceGen modeller to make a good looking character but - unfortunately - the demo version doesn't allow you to export the face, which I *think* you need to make the face work.

So, are there any preset character faces I can download to use in my game? Or is there a way to import a FaceGen using the demo version? Thanks!

Oblivion Face Exchange Lite

NOTE: The latest version (1.4.1) is not Windows Vista compatible.

With this tool, you can change your character's name, hairstyle, hair length, hair color, eyes and copy face from a another save file, from a face file, from text that is copied to the clipboard or from a non-player character. This allows you to change your character's look and continue to playing your character without starting a new game.

You may also share your character looks more easily with your friends by exporting your character's face to a "face file". This file may also include preview pictures from your character's look, short description from the look, your homepage and email address. You can also copy-paste your character's look to/from clipboard.

It is also possible to use hair styles and eyes that are not normally available for your character's race or gender. You can also try to move faces from other gender and races to your character, but this normally will crash Oblivion when you try to open your save file (don't overwrite your save files).

Since version 1.2.0, program scans automatically all new or changed plugins from the Oblivion's data folder and import their objects to the program.

This program is freeware. You can download, use or distribute it absolutely free.

Requirements: Windows XP/2000, Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 (you can download this from Windows Update)

Use this and search around for a preexisting "Face File" that you really like

Sure, SI Facegen Modeller demo does not allow you to export face to any other format, but you can save what you made. Then use Facegen to Oblivion converter to import the face. However, if you try to apply it to any custom race character, the result may be different than what you saw in Facegen Modeller(It depends on head mesh. Vanilla head mesh and Head06 Base will give the best result, while Corean head mesh may give you the worst result).

I tried the FaceGen to Oblivion converter earlier. Was really easy to do as well... but when it came to having a look at my character in-game, he'd defaulted back to the original Imperial (when you enter the character creation at the start of the game and there's this middle-aged dark-skinned male Imperial staring back at you).

Make sure you applied it to right save file... What I do is:

1. Start new game, then save it as soon as tutorial quest starts. (Making new save profile via save manager utility is helpful) Do not forget to reset the face when you create the character.

2. Use Facegen to Oblivion converter to apply Facegen .fg file to your new save file. I choose 'Force Apply' for shape, and 'Don't change skintone' for skin tone. Do not forget to choose correct race name. If you're using custom race, you have to load the race mod to converter, and input the race name by hand.

3. Launch the game, load face-imported save file.

4. Use console command 'showracemenu' for tweaking imported face to look right in-game.

I followed your instructions just now but his face still looks the same. I even started a new game (seeing as how the previous one was still in the Imperial Prison). The only thing I didn't do was make a new save profile via the save manager utility, but I don't know if that would make a difference. I have various things running at the start of the game (like Deadly Reflex, Unnecessary Violence, the Journal mod and a couple of quests), but I don't have any problems with them and just wait until they finish loading before saving the game (so I don't know if these could be the problem or not). Unless it's something to do with the FaceGen file itself (which is just a normal .fg), then I'm stumped.
