zprospero
Actually, I don't think the console command works. I think that was added with OBSE. If you use OBSE the you want this mod: Set Essential Actors It gives you a spell that lets you toggle on or off whether a character is essential. Also, Sithis is the Void, he's basically the mythological explanation of outer space. If you want to kill him, I suppose you could go up to Dive Rock and shoot arrows at the sky, but it's not going to happen. You'll need the spell to kill the woman in the sanctuary too as she is also set to essential.
LFact
Actually, I don't think the console command works. I think that was added with OBSE. 'SetEssential' is base game command(it is used for setting quest-related character essential/unessential); it uses BaseID.'SetRefEssential' is OBSE function; it uses RefID. MidbossVyers
Oh, so Arquen is essential as well? Well, that'll change... What about Fafnir the doorman from the Whodunit? quest? Or does he just disappear from the game after that quest? Also, would killing the Night Mother herself invoke the "Wrath of Sithis" (the monster)? If not, does anyone have a mod that will invoke this "Wrath"?Edit: OK, I can remove Arquen's essentialness (her crown icon turned into a face icon), but I can't seem to get rid of the Night Mother's essentialness (her icon is always a crown). Is she immune to the spell or is the icon just not changing? If she is immune, how do I get rid of her essentialness? How does SetEssential 0 work? Do I just aim, because click is attack and space is talk?
zprospero
@LFact Ah, that's right. Thank you. I forgot it was what ID was used that was the difference. But I don't believe clicking on an NPC and toggling this will work, will it? It never has for me. If I wanted to do it I've always had to memorize the form-id. @MidbossVyers I believe Fafnir is disabled at the end of his introduction, so yes, he's pretty much gone. And I don't believe attacking the Night Mother would bring the 'Wrath of Sithis' I believe you have to be a Dark Brotherhood member and break a tenant for the monster to appear. UncleRoe
I've never tried messing with essential code through the command line but you can set it through the construction kit. it's a bit out of the way but that's the only way i'm familiar with. Also, after you kill her you will be trapped in her tomb (kinky) but you can get out easy by using a COC command or clicking on another quest and then using the movetoqt command. just note that movetoqt can be kinda buggy sometimes and you might end up in between a door or a wall. If you end up between a wall or door in the worldspace though, you can just click on the map and fast travel.
MidbossVyers
I know that probably wouldn't happen normally, but is there a mod to enable Wrath of Sithis after killing the Night Mother? Well, first thing's first, Arquen is aligned with the Night Mother, so attacking the NM would also make Arquen your enemy, right? Again, for disabling the NM's essentialness, her RefID is 0000922D, and her BaseID is 0000922B, so what do I need to type into the console to make her non-essential? *looks at her HP and that of Arquen's in the Elder Scrolls wiki* ... So the kill cheat is kill after clicking on a character, right (my character is only level 4, so she couldn't possibly kill them both in a fair fight, but since when has the DB ever cared about fair fights, right? What is the level cap, anyway)? Same thing with unlock on the exit? Well, that's according to GameFAQs, but how do you "click" on a character to select him/her, as opposed to the function of a mouse-click, "attack"? Either way, it's a pity that my character probably won't win in a fair fight as the Night Mother to die by the Blade of Woe, just like how Palpatine got killed by Anakin in Anakin's ending of the Star Wars Ep3 game, but I digress. I just need the essential control cheat, the kill cheat, and the unlock cheat.

MidbossVyers
Even when killing the Night Mother, LOL.Edit: Done and done. Though, I'll probably res Arquen for the easy gold reason.
Sinophile
Know what is funny? I played an evil wood elf less than a year ago, and I vaguely remember the Dark Brotherhood. I just remember how awesome it was to ride Shadowmere.
fundip206
if you want to kill the night mother but finish the quest line (up to listener that is)then open the console when you in her tomb (this is of course when you go there with the other black hand members.select her and close the console. go talk to her yada yada yada, and when you leave just open the console (she should still be selected) type moveto playerthen do setessential 0and viola, you can kill her
