hello. i have a suggestion for a mod that adds a filter effect to oblivion that gives everything a cartoon feel along with a bunch of other additions to sacrifice the realism for a better visual effects and diversity.

for a game that is an attempt at a realistic medieval fantasy game there are just too many things that don't look very real. also lack of character variety.

like the fact that there is no facial hair on most of the npcs (sheogorath being the ONLY exception- and thats IF you gotSI )

or that most every npc is an unrealistic level of fugly.

there are some mods that kinda aim for fixing that like the unique features mod but it would seem to me that variety would be an easier thing to achieve if the graphical aim was set to cartoon instead of realism . that way if a character looked but ugly it would be harder to tell because of the filter.

it would also open up a door for some clothing mods to fit with the game like McMutton's Hero Armor and lower the bar on detail for many modders allowing projects to focus more on playability rather than detail.

well its only a suggestion

I would say OBGE is the way to go, but I believe what's wanted here is a less-detailed sort of style, not just something with realistic textures with a cel edge filter on. I'd say something along the likes of a unique shader that removes a lot of detail from things and makes it look painted or inked in is what you're looking for; maybe bringing it up at the Bethesda forums' OBGE topic might yield some promising results.
