dragon1604
Okay, I've installed OBMM, OBSE and am running the latest official version of Oblivion + SI, the 1.20.416 or w/e. I'm certain I am up to date on everything official. Whenever I'm walking through dungeons, delivering a final blow to an enemy, or even being on the verge of leveling up, my screen freezes and yet audio continues to work. The game freezes, no functions work, however the music continues looping. My load order is this: Oblivion.esmA_Bloody_Mess.esmHorseCombatMaster.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch.espDLCShiveringIsles.espNatural_Weather_HDR_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Habitat_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Water_by_Max_Tael.esp300_Combat Sounds.espMIS.espMIS Low Wind.espMIS New Sounds Optional Part.espAtmospheric Oblivion.espAliveWaters.espAliveWaters - Koi Addon.espAliveWaters - Slaughterfish Addon.espRAEVWD New Sheoth.espHGEC_special_armor_repl.espKnights.espNatural_Vegetation_by_Max_Tael.espMidasSpells.esp_Ren_BeautyPack_onlyhairs.espCernasite - DragonEyes.espCosmetic Compilation.espCapucines Character Expansion.esp_Ren_BeautyPack_full.espBeautiful People.espQTdof.espOblivion Graphics Extender Support.espVersa's Item and Flora Overhaul.espRagna Parry V2.espbabehair_EV.espDeadly Reflex 5 - Timed Block with no damage or durability changes.espDeadlyReflex 5 - Combat Moves.espxulAncientRedwoods.espxulAncientYews.espxulArriusCreek.espxulAspenWood.espxulBlackwoodForest.espxulBravilBarrowfields.espxulBrenaRiverRavine.espxulCheydinhalFalls.espxulChorrolHinterland.espxulCloudtopMountains.espxulColovianHighlands_EV.espxuldarkforest.espXulEntiusGorge.espxulFallenleafEverglade.espxulImperialIsle.espxulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.espxulLushWoodlands.espxulPantherRiver.espxulRiverEthe.espxulSkingradOutskirts.espxulSnowdale.espxulStendarrValley.espxulTheHeath.espxulRollingHills_EV.espxulPatch_AY_AC.esp Now, I'm sure there may be several things wrong with this load order, however, I'm merely curious as to which may be causing the screen freeze. If you need any more information just ask.
Hickory
Your load order *is* incorrect, but often random freezes can be a symptom of hardware not coping with the load (graphics, normally, but can also be sound, or even printer drivers). You should troubleshoot your load order first: run BOSS and add a Bashed Patch. If you still get random freezes, try temporarily uninstalling high graphic bottlenecks, like RAEVWD, QTP3, Better Cities, UL. If the freezes stop with the bottlenecks disabled, you probably need to upgrade your hardware, and most likely graphics card.

EDIT: You could be right, perhaps something is peaking the load and causing it to freeze, however I've run much more hardware intensive games such as Far Cry 2 and Call of Duty: WAW. I've narrowed it down now to mostly when something should be decapitated or altered by the Deadly Reflex mod. Right at the impact of the final blow, be it a rat/goblin/anything, it just pauses and stays that way until I ctrl+alt+del and exit.

I have a very modest system, and trust me, Oblivion with high texture mods and overhauls is MUCH more graphic intensive than any of those games. I've narrowed it down now to mostly when something should be decapitated or altered by the Deadly Reflex mod. Right at the impact of the final blow, be it a rat/goblin/anything, it just pauses and stays that way until I ctrl+alt+del and exit. I don't use Deadly Reflex (never have), so I can only suggest the BOSS and Wrye Bash route to minimise any conflicts. Run BOSS first to sort your load list, and then follow the instructions on the Wrye Bash page on how to build a Bashed Patch. I suggest, once Wrye Bast is installed, and before you build your patch, you set the Bash Tags (bottom right window) to Automatic, so that it uses the tage suggestions from BOSS, and negates you having to add them manually. dragon1604
Okay I'm still having this problem. I've reinstalled Oblivion like twice. This time I haven't installed any combat mods. I've only installed OOO, Beautiful People, Qarl's DOF, Midas Magic, and some others that I don't personally think are linked but may have an effect on my game. This is the new load order:Oblivion.esmBetterMusicSystem.esmOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch.espUOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.espOblivion Citadel Door Fix.espDLCShiveringIsles.espNatural_Weather_HDR_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Habitat_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Water_by_Max_Tael.espIWR-Lights.espIWR-Windows.espIWR-Shutters.espBook Jackets Oblivion.espDLCHorseArmor.espDLCOrrery.espDLCVileLair.espDLCMehrunesRazor.espDLCThievesDen.espDLCBattlehornCastle.espDLCFrostcrag.espKnights.espmythsandlegends.espNatural_Vegetation_by_Max_Tael.espMidasSpells.espStreamline 3.1.espBeautiful People.espHarvest [Flora] - DLCVileLair.espHarvest [Flora] - DLCFrostcrag.espHarvest [Flora] - Shivering Isles.espLiving Economy.espLiving Economy - Items.espHarvest [Flora].espOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.espOOO-Level_Stock.espRagna Parry V2.espQTdof.espxulAncientRedwoods.espxulAncientYews.espxulArriusCreek.espxulAspenWood.espxulBlackwoodForest.espxulBravilBarrowfields.espxulBrenaRiverRavine.espxulCheydinhalFalls.espxulChorrolHinterland.espxulCloudtopMountains.espxulColovianHighlands_EV.espxuldarkforest.espXulEntiusGorge.espxulFallenleafEverglade.espxulImperialIsle.espxulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.espxulLushWoodlands.espxulPantherRiver.espxulRiverEthe.espxulSkingradOutskirts.espxulSnowdale.espxulStendarrValley.espxulTheHeath.espxulRollingHills_EV.espxulPatch_AY_AC.esp And don't just say "The load order is wrong," or "Bash patch it!" It's been bashed, and unless someone offers me a proper load order, there's not much I can do about it except use BOSS.
DavidBudreck
Oblivion is just plain buggy--ESPECIALLY with this many mods installed. If you have any texture replacers, like Qarls, installed, then that could be a huge contributing factor. Oblivion is 4 years old and simply can't handle some of the things thrown at it. If you do have any textures installed, try moving or renaming your ArchiveInvalidation.txt (or Alternate) and then trying. This will force vanilla textures, and in my case the game popped right back to "normal." If you have textures Do this First. If you Don't have any textures installed, then you are probably going to need to start disabling mods one at a time until you find the conflict.
