Pressing Caps Lock causes FPS drops

Okay, so before anyone asks, my laptop has 8GB of RAM and is pretty powerful, and runs Skyrim with ease...apart from this one thing it only started doing a couple of months back and even re-installing didn't help this issue.

If I accidentally press Caps Lock, my FPS rate drops MAJORLY. The game becomes un-playable and I have to save and exit to desktop and re-save for the game to return to it's normal parameters. Nothings helped, turning down fading etc, removing mods etc. It's not just my character walking when you press Caps Lock, which is what's meant to happen (and does) it's actual FPS drops.
I'd get you a mods list...but I don't know how.

Any thoughts/ideas/solutions to this would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't get any help on the Steam forums, so thought you guys might know a little more.

You can try turning off sticky keys, and toggle keys.

I have just tried that now and it didn't work.

Is it just in the menu?

They are windows features for ease of use. You need to turn them off in the Windows Control Panel.

Think I would be looking at background processes running on your computer, hitting caps lock may toggle some other background app, and that is chewing up system resources.... Do you get the same FPS drop if you just hold the shift key?

Oh okay, I don't get the drop if I hold the Shift key.

Another idea is to remap the action from (default toggle run) caps lock to something else, and see if the problem is or is not still there.

Tried than and it's worked. I've just gotta remember not to hit the caps lock button now :D
