ell46
I want to install Shivering Isles, as this is the first time I've done this would it be better to uninstall my mods first and then reinstall or can I just install SI?
SavageArtistry
You should be able to go ahead and install Shivering Isles. Shivering Isles takes place in a different realm, so unless you have a mod that puts an island in the middle of the lake outside of Bravil, you should be fine. LFact
If you already patched your game, I recommend you to uninstall your game, then reinstall it. Since Shivering Isles changes Oblivion.esm and executable file(probably, but maybe not unless you have GoTY), reinstall your game will reduce the chance of error during SI installation. Too late I'm afraid, I installed after replying yesterday, I played all last night and nothing horrible has happened so far, fingers crossed. I'll keep this in mind in case things start going prearshaped
bben46
If you are able to start and play, then your install is fine. You never said if you had patched your Oblivion or not - that is where a problem may occur. If you then patch the SI after applying the Oblivion patch you may get an error. If it installs with no error, you are good to go. If you do get the error, uninstall using the built in game uninstaller - no need to use my complete uninstall/reinstall for this unless you are moving the game to a new location. Then reinstall Oblivion - DO NOT PATCH start and make a save - this sets up your Oblivion.ini for your hardware. Then install Shivering isles - again start and make a save. Then patch using ONLY the Shivering Isles patch as this is the only patch you will need. The reinstall on the game does not remove your saves or mods so you should be able to pick up right where you left off.
ell46
bben46 - thanks, so far today everything is working fine, but I have been to this mysterious door that has opened yet, perhaps that will be the test, lets hope not.
