LotM
Over the past week I've been installing a bunch of new mods. I recently installed MMM (OOO compatible version), Kragenir's Death Quest, Realistic Fatigue, Realistic Encumbrance, and the Stirk Island Mod, among others (I'm listing these because I believe they are the most probable causes of the problem). I also just installed Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles. One of the very beginning quests of Kragenir's Death Quest took me to fingerbowl cave. I found the quest objective, and I also found a room with a dead named NPC and pair of gauntlets sitting on a shelf of the cave wall that gave me a message telling me they "would not budge" when I tried to pick them up. This was apparently unrelated to KDQ, but it seemed to be an element of another quest. I presumed it was from the Knights of the Nine. I'm not sure if whatever quest this was is what's keeping me stuck inside the cave or not, but whenever I try to leave the cave, it loads the outside world, then a message saying "I cannot go that way. I should turn back" pops up, exactly like it would if I were to try to cross over the border of Cyrodiil. I am then brought back to interior of Fingerbowl cave. I tried to teleport using the console, but upon doing so, the same message popped up and it brought me all the way back to fingerbowl cave yet again. I literally cannot leave this freaking cave. On what is probably an unrelated note, my encumbrance is behaving strangely. My inventory tells me I can carry up to over 1200 pounds, which I know for a fact is impossible for my character. I deactivated the realistic encumbrance mod, thinking that was the cause of the problem, but it didn't change anything. Any advice for either of these two problems would be greatly appreciated. DavidBudreck
The gauntlets you cannot budge are from OOO. And, you can never tell which of your mods is causing the problem; it usually ends up being one you didn't think could possibly be the problem... You have a lot of different things going on. To begin diagnosing them, you need to post your load order, not just name off a few of your mods. If you don't know how to do that easily, this is an article from BBen. Bben's How to post a Load order list Article http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=295 Encumberance in Oblivion is just plain buggy, period. To get back to base, you may have to unload Everything your player is carrying, essentially stripping down to skivvies. Once you do this, it should reset whatever is confusing the game. Then you can put your clothes back on.
LotM
Thanks for the response. Here's my current load order. DavidBudreck
I am not a load order expert by any means, but I can see a couple of things like the UOP Shivering Isle Patch loading before DLC Shivering Isles. I would highly recommend running BOSS BOSS - Better Oblivion Sorting Softwarehttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516 However, I seriously doubt that is the issue with Fingerbowl (but still should be done anyway). Did you do anything with the console command and the gauntlets? That is the only thing I can think of. Try making a clean save. Deactivate all your mods, load, save, then quit. Then reactivate your mods and load from the save. See if that clears things up.
LotM
I never do anything with the console before saving, and I always load after using it, so effectively I pretty much never use it. I definitely didn't do anything to the gauntlets either. I'm going to try those things and see what happens. EDIT: I removed everything I could from my inventory (everything except quest items), and it says I am carrying 0/939 pounds. My strength is currently at 72... Another strange thing I noticed is that when I started the game and loaded without OBSE just to check something really quickly, my encumrance was at 0/723, again with my strength at 72... When I disable all my mods, can I just uncheck the esp's, or do I literally have to go through OBMM and turn deactivate everything? What about mods I installed without OBMM? EDIT 2: I disabled all esp's and esm's except for the game itself. I can leave the cave. Upon reactivating them, I loaded the save file outside and ended up in the tiber septim hotel. I can't leave the city. I tried to fasttravel back to fingerbowl to get the stuff I dropped, and it gave me "I cannot go that way" stuff again. I then realized I could not access the overworld at all. I can fasttravel to other cities, but as soon as I enter the overworld, the medssage pops up and I am sent back inside. None of my previous outside saves work either. It's tiber septim hotel again. It's definitely a mod that, when active, is causing this problem. I've also already tried loading without Kragenir's Death Quest (since it my number one suspect), but the problem persists without it. Even with every mod off, the encumbrance limit remains at an abnormally high number.
LFact
One messed load order, if it is really yours. - First, Oblivion.esm should be always first.- Bashed patch must be last one, unless some other mod need to be loaded later. For the rest, I also recommend to use BOSS to reorder it, if you don't want to meddle with loading order manually. Thanks for the tip about bashed patch, but for the most part I already took care of that. I really just need help getting out of fingerbowl cave. I tried disabling OOO and MMM but niether of them seemed to make a difference either.
DavidBudreck
Maybe it thinks for some reason you are over the border. My last suggestion is look in the Oblivion.ini file for two entries and set them both to Zero. Like this: bBorderRegionsEnabled=0bEnableBorderRegion=0 This will tell Oblivion not to Squawk if you run off the map.

Are there any foreseeable problems that could arise as a result of this fix? I'm also still stuck with too much weight capacity, but I guess I can just use the realistic fatigue mod to balance out the game. Thanks a lot!
