cryocry
enchant the weapon with this:Damage Health 80ptsFire, Frost, Shock all 15 pts (every element at 15 pts of damage)Name it what you want. The enchantment is what I use. Granted, you'll have to find rechargers alot, but, hell, use a silver weapon as your main weapon, and when you need some heavy artillery, pull out that weapon. What? How the HELL do you get that high of enchantments? The most I was able to fit on any weapon with a grand soul is 12 pts 1 sec each for fire, frost, shock, and damage health, adding a total of 48 damage. Does the game allow you to use more powerful enchantments with higher rankings in spell skills or something? Don't know, but you'll FREAK if I told you my claymore's enchantments  . If you do the pirate quest in the waterfront(just rent a room in the bloated float and sleep there) you can get your hands on an enchanted saber(sorry forget the name) and depending on your level, glass and elven weapons. Also, at jensines' and the 3 brother's in the market district, you find enchanted avakiri katanas. It's an enchanted Fine Steel Longsword, but what's the difference. It's called the Blackwawter Blade. Oh, the katana is bought from Sergius Verus at Three Brothers Trade Goods, and the Dai-Katana is bought at Jensine's Good As New Merchandise. Or maybe the other way around, I can't remember.

Evangelion_2014
The quest to get the best sword in the game is clacivus viles (need to be at least Lvl 20 and off 500 septims) Also there is boeathia's quest which gets you the goldbrand(which does more damage total than umbra). cryocry
The quest to get the best sword in the game is clacivus viles (need to be at least Lvl 20 and off 500 septims) No, you need to get Umbra from Umbra to give to Clavicus Vile. He gives you the Masque of Clavicus Vile. But, there's also the Ebony Blade, gotten from Mephala. And Volendrung from Malacath. And the Mace of Molag Bal from said Daedra Lord. And, not to mention what Evangelion said.
Malchik
Since this is now in spoilers I can say I was referring to the sword 'Umbra' in Vindasel. You can get this at any level if you are ingenious enough. As you can't do Clavicus Vile's quest until you are level ?20 or something like that, you can use the sword for much of the game. (Depending on how quickly you level up of course.)

(Depending on how quickly you level up of course.)You also have the option of "finishing" Clavius Vile's quest by keeping UMbra instead of trading it in for the Helm of Clavicus Vile. The only drawback to finishing the quest and keeping Umbra is that it no longer has 0 weight which may well be it's single biggest advantage over other weapons that do similar amounts of damage ;-).
