Hey guys, i just installed Skyrim to try how it will go with my new GPU, but i am getting really low fps.

No mods installed in Whiterun i get 38fps looking at the most demanding spot, All settings maxed, AA and AF off as i was gonna enable them through the enb but when i get this bad performance without it, dont even wanna try with it.

FX-8350 4.4ghz

EVGA GTX 980 SC

Hey mate,

I also had troubles with FPS for a long time.
I tried disabling all kind of texture and mesh mods, but nothing seemed to work.
My gpu is not nearly as great as yours, but it is good enough to play at a steady non-annoying frame-rate, with everything set to Ultra and many graphic boosting mods.
Then I remembered I played a game that wasn't that gpu demanding, but still made my fps drop below 10.
The way I solved it, was turning off motion blur.
So I did the same with Skyrim and my fps doubled to tripled.

Download the program located here: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/814/?
Install and go to Graphics\Screen on the right you will see Post-Processing --> Radial Blur.
I predict this is set to High or Ultra.
Disable Radial Blur, set everything else to Ultra, install 4k textures, download all the visual enhancing mods you can think of and enjoy.
If this is still not enough, try Google-ing something like "nvidia skyrim fps boost tweaks".

Overall gaming experience boost and mandatory for many mods: http://skse.silverlock.org/
Overall performance and visual boost: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/? (you can also disable the visual boost and just benefit from the performance boost, by changing "EnableProxyLibrary=true" to "EnableProxyLibrary=false" in the enblocal.ini file)

If you see other people struggling with FPS issues, copy and paste this message!
I guarantee it will boost your FPS!
Good luck!

You get ridiculously low fps. That is not normal. For example I get 80-120+ fps in Whiterun with single gtx 680 @ ultra settings.

Do you have sufficient PSU?

Try to turn virtual cores off on your CPU. I don't know how the technology is called in AMD cpus, but as far as I know only 4 cores on your processor are physical.

Thanks Tyriel87, but i am thinking that my pc is sufficient to run the game without disabling any settings, but i will give it a shot.

Akreontage---- Yeah i thought its not normal, Yep my psu is listed in the sig Corsair CX750W Builder Series. Hmm you mean disabling some of the cores? I have seen the option in the bios but, witch cores exactly do i have to disable? Or it doesnt metter? Thanks

Are you using the new super resolution feature? You may be running it at a higher resolution and downscaling to your monitors resolution. Also, try running your CPU at its stock speed, Skyrim is picky with that.

Ok, I got it. As far as I can see from your signature you play on 4k monitor.

4k is 8847360 pixels to calculate at once vs 1080p's 2073600 pixels. It seems like you just lack horse powers to play @ 4k. Test Skyrim @ 1080p and tell us about the results.

P.S. And if you really do play @ 4k this is 100% the case. 4k is unreachable goal for current gpus.
