Birrii
Hi.So I have this problem:Whenever I play a computer game, then at first, it goes great and smoothly (but only for a min or two), then I lag, and then it goes smoothly again, then lag and it so on.Rather, when I play one of the newer games, with better graphics, then I lag. but if I play games with graphics like S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl (which means a bit outdated graphics), then I don't lag at all.I've got a Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Notebook Xa 3530Windows VistaATI Radeon Premium graphicsAnd I've got 3 GB RAM(If you need to find out my processor or anything more, then could you explain me how to find it? I'm a noob in such :B) I personally believe that I don't have enough RAM. Is that correct? If so, how can I increase it? I've got lots of space on my computer anyway. And I also use Gamebooster, a program which shuts down programs that I don't need in order to increase computer speed. I also turn off basically all programs which I don't need, like MSN, Skype etc. Thank you in advance.Sincerely yours,Birrii
Vindekarr
No, Its a laptop, and no matter how much power you cram into it it has one huge glaring flaw-HEAT! And that's exactly what this sounds like. My first gaming machine was an ill considered design empasising power rtaher than efficiency, so it ran really well for a while,t hen lagged to a halt. You need bigger fans and maybe to frankenstein in some form of liquid cooling rig. You would also do well to perhaps increase the power of your RAM. Despite popular beleif not all RAM is equal. My GF's pc has 8GB RAM. Mine has 6. But my PC has 6 GB of 1,600 MHZ ram, hers is only 800MHZ, this actualy makes mine more powerful all told. So up the efficiency before you up the voltage. AliasTheory
leason learned from this : when it comes to high graphic gaming never used laptop. well except alienware  wish i have one :mellow:And I have one. :D (Sorry to brag.) I own an M11x and it works great. Probably the best money I've ever invested in a laptop. Lots of power for its size and is a very cool laptop temperature wise. When I hook it up to an external monitor, it stays at moderate temperatures the entire time and barely even gets warm. One of the best aspects is that the touchpad works so incredibly well. I've never had a problem with it being unresponsive or acting funny with my fingers, even when they are a bit wet. Biggest issue is that the screen is impossibly hard to keep clean and always got to wipe it. Thought of buying a protector to prevent the dust collection and glare, but I'm getting by. I'm playing Fallout 3 with 4x antialiasing and near max settings plus double sized textures. Working just fine with my modified Fallout.ini. And I'm running on a duo processor, non overclocked. High framerates all day.
KDStudios
Also try this tool when playing any games. It really helps: Game Booster That is what I personally use while there are other alternatives that can be found on the web. It might bide you an extra hour or so in processing and thus will make it stop heating up as fast. Good luck =) EDIT: @AliasTheory Although I love the power of alienware computers. They are quite simply over priced like any other computer at a shop.My computer has the same amount of power those £3000 computers alienware sell but I made mine by building myself for £700. If you know how to, its best to make it yourself. However if you can't or can't be bothered making one. It is simpler but always way more expensive to buy computers like that =)I play Fallout on max with x8 anti aliasing and it runs perfectly (Until I run fraps... then I gotta turn it down to x4 for it to run smoothly while recording) Fraps makes it crash for some reason. It's not RAM because I have 12GB ram and yes I have edited the ini to make it work with more than 2GB =PThe game engine just can't take it for some reason =/

KDStudios
I think I have the specs of my computer wondering around the nexus somewhere, I made this half a year ago too so it is outdated now but still powerful.I know I wrote the specs down somewhere but I can't remember all of them as it was ages ago and I've built so many different computers since then =PI'll tell you what I do remember. Nvidia Geforce 250 1GB2 x 2tb hard drivesIntel Core i7 96012GB RAMWas running W7 Professional but I updated it to Ultimate the other month. But dig around on my profile or some topics I made I think I have more info on them

Nice build though.
