OBGE Godray Settings

I had quite a bit of trouble getting the godrays to work in OBGE (Oblivion Graphics Extender). Enabling it in the menu didn't seem to do anything which was a bit sad seeing how good it can look, turned out they were there but the settings just needed to be changed. Also saw some people showing pics of their's claiming they used custom settings but even when others asked what settings they used I haven't seen anyone be nice enough to answer.

So I thought I'd start a thread were people can post their settings for godrays with a screenshot of the result, hopefully helping others with problems getting them to work (or just look good) and if enough people add their's it would be nice to be able to easily choose from a screenshot and then just use it's posted settings.

I don't know enough to give a useful description of all the variables along with suggested settings/ranges but it would be nice if someone else could.

Anyway after messing around I got mine looking like this, probably not the best but at least it's a start. Got tired of messing around with the settings in the ingame OBGE menu and took these shots in Bravil at sunset

um guys, i was hoping you might be able to help...

I cant get godrays to work. I activate them in the settings menu but this is not reflected in the game's graphics,

any clues, any other info you might need?

I had the same problem. Neither Godrays, nor Depth of Field would work whatsoever no matter what settings I tried with them.

I ended up solving the issue by completely ditching the support plugin that comes with OBGE v2, then creating a shaderlist.txt file in the Data\Shaders folder, and adding the file names of only the shaders that I wanted to run in there (Godrays.fx, DepthOfField.fx, etc). Make sure to check the OBGE readme for the proper load order for them.

i have a very different problem. two, in fact.

1: the RAWZfix.fx, when enable anywhere in the load order causes oblivion to be RED. if its enabled before cellshading, things have outlines. if not, it is featureless redness everywhere. migraine-inducing o_O

2: much more serious, to my way of thought: i play with HDR lighting, and hardware-force AA. having the OBGE dll even in the plugin folder seems to completely disable AA. ive tried not even enabling any of the functions, and still anti-aliasing is disabled while its in there. These shaders are very pretty, but no antialiasing is very not pretty =/

Yeh, Im running latest version of OBGE,ATI5870 with latest drivers

DOF, Cell shading and AA work, aswell as colour mods etc but the only one that doesnt work is Godrays (much to my dissapointment) I activate it via support pluggin (ingame) still nothing. Just a featureless yellow dot on the sky. Hmm

I suggest creating a shaderlist.txt to activate the different shaders of OBGE. I too have had issues with the support plugin, many people have. But everything works as intended the old fashioned way, manually activating them. All you need to do is the following.

1. Create a text file named shaderlist.txt

2. Place your newly created blank shaderlist in your Shaders folder. Oblivion\Data\Shaders

3. Open the text file and add the name of the shader you wish to activate. example: By placing Godrays.fx in the shaderlist.txt and then saving; Godrays is now an active shader.

4. Add any shader you wish to the text file, just be sure to copy the name of EXACTLY. Any error will cause it not to work.

5. Ditch the support plugin.

6. Play and enjoy working shaders.

Now if you still have problems I suggest downloading the files again to eliminate the possibility of a corrupt download. There are multiple versions of each shader too. Some are bugged, some work to perfection. There are also multiple versions of the actual OBGE.dll file. Go to Oblivion Graphics Extender WIP thread for your downloads and information on additional shaders and settings. There is lots of great information there and that's where the developers hang out. You can also catch downloads of some beta projects too. You will also get better solutions to problems since it's likely the developer will see your comment in that thread and respond directly. Developers will likely never see this topic. They don't go digging around the internet to find every single post. They create their project thread and expect people to use it. I mean that's the point of it right? To keep information consolidated in one area so it's more accurate and trends can be identified.

That should help you out and lead you to some new information and possibilities. Enjoy!

If using godrays make sure you're not running Timeslip & Quarl depth of field.

But a question to you: Does the goday mod drop fps when you enable it? Because on my last oblivion install when i enabled godrays i didn't get anything (prolly cuz of Depth of field) and my fps dropped like 5-10 below

Because when i enabled them, sunray's just weren't there. The mod has some issues with the sky since the depth of field also makes the stars and moons at night very blurry. You can try to run them together, it didn't work for me though :)
