Could have been both. A friend gave me his 512 graphics card. which i used there site. and couldnt figure out how to install the drivers. which is because i didnt have the card actually IN the computer.i tried it once that way but the computer didnt recognize it. tried going through bios and a bunch of other things. however ended up messing it up and had to do a bios reboot. anyhow after that it would let me install the drivers on the new graphics card. reboot and success! having loads of fun :) Thanks to you ALL. Fonger
start with the obvious 1 - does your hardware meet minimum requirements for this game - pay particular attention to the video 2 - what steps have you taken to make certain that this is not simply a UAC issue
Hickory
Open up your Oblivion folder and copy the file Oblivion_default.ini , now open up \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\ folder and paste the ini file into it. Rename the file to Oblivion.ini then make sure there is a 'Saves' folder in the Oblivion folder. If there is not, create one. Now try to run your game FROM THE LAUNCHER. bben46
First, lets establish whether or not your computer can play the game. It works with some integrated video, but not all. And remember that with an integrated video card it steals a portion of the available ram for the video and audio so you may not have as much as you think to play with - although 4G should be sufficient even with an integrated card. Winxp 32 bit can only use 3.2G Max. The game uses up to 2G max that leaves a reasonably large chunk of memory (1.2G) for the Operating system, video and audio Go here to see if your computer can run the gamehttp://www.systemreq...referrer/srtest You will find Oblivion listed as 'The Elder Scrolls IV, OblivionFallout3 as Fallout3 PC and Dragon Age listed as Dragon age After that we need to know what version you have, and what patch you tried. It should start and run without a patch. The patches are to fix bugs in the game not for getting it to work. I recomend starting it the first time with no patch, then making a save - that's when the ini file is created.
Qwaxalot
The OP has the most current version (1.2.0416). Problem is most likely inadequate video. A "DXDIAG" report will answer this question. Run (XP) or Start (Vista or 7), type in "dxdiag" (without the quotes), save the report to a desktop text file (default). Copy and paste the results (the whole thing) here in your thread.
