Umberstone
I wanted to download the 'Ser Gilmore Voiced npc' mod. the first file needed is 230 megabits, but the problem is that I am on dial-up. It's not the time needed that is the problem, it's that when you are on dial-up the connection is unreliable after a certain amount of time online. I knew I was in for disappointment, but yesterday I tried anyway. The connection failed with only 2 megabits to go, leaving me with a completely useless 228 megabit file. It is a 'rar' file and with WinRAR you can pretty easily break a file into smaller parts. Could someone please break up this file and post a set of dial-up links? I'd do it myself (on dial-up) if I could get the file at all. If anyone has the time to do it, the file ishttp://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=851 If you are a modder, please consider dial-up links for files over 150 mb... please? RustyBlade
Wouldn't it be easier to grab a flash drive, head to your local public library and download it on their broadband?
Thandal
Wouldn't it be easier to grab a flash drive, head to your local public library and download it on their broadband? Not everyone has such inet-savvy libraries (think rural and/or non-Americanadian areas). My totally connected European friends and family are amazed when they visit and discover that [access to] the net is "free" in so many places! But I really like the suggestion! I'm afraid that we can't. That would be against the forum rules. As it's distributing another person's work. However, if the author does it, or gives permission for somebody to do it, then yeah.... it's ok.So you might ask them to break the file up into smaller chunks and upload them for you. Even if they didnt want to do it here on the nexus, they could use a filehost and send you the links. Tho... as I said.... others can't do that unless the author gives permission. In most cases, I would suggest looking into a download manager that will allow you to resume interupted or paused downloads. However (again) the nexus servers don't support download managers, or resumed dl's :( For some of your other large downloads that would be a nice solution for you, but they just dont work here :(
nezroy
Or pay for a DANexus membership and use your favorite DLM to alleviate the pain...

As Nezroy said, Nexus does support d/l managers. Premium members can make use of that "extra".(Membership does have its privileges. )
DarkeWolf
ahhhh I see.Much thanks for the correction guys, not being a premium, this was something I didnt know about. Appreciate it  :)
LancelotLoire
You don't need a download manager or anything to improve your download speeds anyways lol. Anyways I didn't even know dial up still existed or was used. My suggestion is to ask a friend to download it or yes go visit a local library with a flash drive. Or if you went to a school like mine then use one of their comps instead.
Umberstone
I think the premium membership download manager is probably the answer to my problem... maybe. Thanks to all who replied. People tend to stop talking to you once they find out your on dial-up.
