How Annoying...

i realize that this has been covered in another post, but out of curiosity, what do you consider to be a spam post?

i think that the mods have been doing a good job at controlling what they considered to be spam, and besides, for those who get out of line there is always the mystical spam-bane (or switch's spam cleaver which remarkably looked like a trident in one of his posts :P ). i'm not saying that spam isn't annoying, or that you don't have a valid point, but just remember spam for one person may not be spam for another. if you have any questions, feel free to report it via the feature (if it works), or by PM.

ah, spam-cleaver has many forms grasshopper  just pray you never see its true form! http://www.click-smilie.de/sammlung0903/teufel/devil-smiley-029.gif

ahem. neways b4 this post gets any MORE embarassing... yeah, there has been a bit of spamming on one posters part *COUGH*krum*COUGH* but apart from that i havent really noticed much...

also, no the report feature still doesnt seem 2 work, so if u have some spam 2 report just paste the link to the thread where the offending post is and PM it to a moderator.

Another thing that really annoys me is that the moved and locked threads still remain long after they're gone. is there any way that the mods can actaully move the topic to the appropriate forum without leaving a ghost of it in the wrong one?

you can't avoid spam, but hats of to the mods for keeping it down. now if only Dark would do some spring cleaning it might make the forums a bit easier to navigate.

I believe that the ghosts that thanateros was referring to is more specifically the moved threads (although he might have seen more unmoved, locked threads than I have). I have also noticed that the moved threads still appear in the old forum, while the link brings you into the different one. If I am misunderstanding the intention (meaning if leaving the ghost of the post in the old forum is so that people who saw it there first don't miss it), then by all means keep doing it, becuase I am sure that it helps. However, if there is no real reason for it, then like thanateros said, I think it would look better to clean a few of them up.

well, theres 2 options when moving a topic. u can either have a link in the forum it came from, or not, i tend 2 leave links in if they have something 2 do with the forum, but werent quite for it, like a thread about morrowind, but its a spoiler so i move it to spoilers, but leave a link in since it was still about morrowind.

er yeah... did that make sense? its late so dont worry if im babbling. :P

Sorry, but I've recently noticed the large waves of spam going on here in MWS... It is not good for the community so Spammers... please calm down!

Isn't making a post about spam a bit like seeing your child punch one of his friends, then running over to him and slaping him upside the head but then saying, "Hey! We don't hit in this family."?

Err... My point is that it seems more than a little ironic to me. I don't know you well Prowler, but I'd say you HAD to know it seemed ironic when posting it. Not many people strike me as being that naive.

Okay... I'll try and break down how my mind reached "irony"

Fact:

Most spam on this forum consists of unwanted or pointless messages, posting of topics that we all know or that have been discussed endlessly, and/or finally drivel to raise ones post count.

Assertion:

A post asking people not to spam is going to 1. Not actually going to reach people who are known spamers, 2. Not actually going be any more persuasive than the moderators and their actions, and 3. contributes nothing to the community the we don't already know or want.

Conclusion:

There for, a post asking people not to spam, no matter how well intended would be 1. not much better than spam, and 2.(infinately worse) might in a twisted sense encourage spaming. Therefore a message asking people not to spam, is contributing to the spam.
