How to edit armor to make my own design with nifscope

I want to edit the Bethesda nif using nifscope, to make my own design of armor, but failing.

Is there a descent tutorial? Or a better editing tool?

I think you might be wanting to do something that nifskope is not capable of. Nfskope is a nif block editor and viewer. While it does allow for a lot of tweaking to nif files, you couldn't for instance, actually model anything in it. ie create any sort of mesh from scratch.
